In the 'muddle'

Hi all you lovelies out there in WA land.

I wanted to share something with you that I am increasingly finding difficult in this modern technological world and maybe a thought process around it.

When I began WA some 4 months ago I really was the quintessential 'newbie' I had been a dentist all my life, yes smart enough maybe, but only in medicine and not in the technical world. I could provide surgery and crowns and fillings but could I save something in a PDF, absolutely not.

We are often only smart or competent in our own fields and moving to the next field has its own learning curves. I think we all feel on the uphill side of the curve in here.

The same is true of the book that i have been working on. It is not just a matter or writing, thats the easy part, there is so much more to learn and to be learnt at a rapid pace.

A friend of mine, the author Bobby Derbyshire said to me recently that when writing a book there is a beginning, a muddle and an end and Oh how I have found that to be true both in the writing process and the editing and proofing world.

I think when we are learning something new like Internet Marketing we have the beginning, its the excitement, the "I can do this" and the "first commision" plus the great interaction with the folks here in WA.

As the weeks and months wear on we can find ourselves in the 'muddle' this grey forlorn area of "What do we do now and "When do i see money and more commonly just "HELP".

I am here to tell you that the solution is determination, tenacity (a word for Mr Dean) while we continue on our trepidous (another one) journey.

As Robbie Bruce watched the spider in his cave so we really must 'try and try again'

Nothing comes easy in this world, believe me, if writing books and being published were easy and fruitful then we would all be authors and we would not be in here.

SO STICK AT IT GUYS, LEARN YOUR NEW SKILLS, APPLY THEM AND IF THEY DON'T WORK THEN TRY AGAIN AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK THEN TRY AGAIN. If you still are having trouble then read this sentence again.

Success is not a god given right nor is it easy.

Sounds a bit like my view of a mathematical theorem ... I know how to start, how it should end but often the middle was a bit of a muddle! It's all part of the learning process - I think it's quite normal (for me anyway!) :)

Well maybe Pythagoras had a muddle with the hypotenuse for a while....

Quintessential journeys can be, by their very nature, trepidous. Tenacity and determination must indeed be applied assiduously in order to attain the transmogrification into a recognized author, as you have now become. :) george

Paul, George is showing off!!

Don't know about recognised but thank you

I know he is Mikey. I wonder if he knows what any of them mean... ;-)

Funny actually my wife was looking for a word the other night that meant 'hardworking and diligent' for her appraisal, at first I said why would you lie LOL...but I said howabout assidiously and now here it is again.

Lol that's ok I've got a few and some post its too! I'm not IT savvy either but I'm getting there:0)

well getting there is all that matters

It was Robert the Bruce, not Robbie Burns, but you're forgiven because you used "tenacity", the perfect word for keep-on-ability. J K Rowling had over a dozen rejections from top publishing houses for her idea about a bespectacled schoolboy with magical powers but she kept on until somebody wised up. Many of us would have given up after the first two. Now she's minted.

Grind on brothers and sisters, grind on.

I changed it, I changed it, literary error I was thinking poet.....LOL
Oh really JK what was her book then LOL

JK comes from the town I live in I'll have you know.

aaar well thats why she was denied 12 times LOL

Don't you go all "pirate" on me now, y'hear.

LOL thats oooo-aarrr or is that our somerset colleagues

It's early morning over here Mike.

Great start to MY day...........

I'm bookmarking this. That's all I have to say

Deb

aaar thank you Deb, watch that video every morning, I just about do

I will stick that sentence to every available surface, fridge, forehead (?) I'm in for the long game but still can't wait to get that first sale! I was thinking along similar lines this morning - if IM was that simple and not a painstaking long haul everyone would be doing it wouldn't they? Thanks Mike

OK do you need a fridge magnet LOL

GREAT VIDEO, and totally TRUE, thanks for the share and have a GREAT DAY

you too, glad you liked it.......

Wise advice - and I'm in the muddle just now too... but I know I'll get through it!

All the best, Mark

Stick at it Mark. The summit becomes clearer once you are out of the trees my friend.

It really is a mindgame. You hear all kinds of things about "work hard and success will come" but that's just not true. On top of having faith in yourself, you have to work with a focus on results, even if you can't quite see them yet! Great post Mike.

You got it, I think people think success is easy if you think about it a bit. Its a hard slog but belief in yourself and a lot of hard work and divine intervention will get you there I am sure of it.

Thanks Mike. Wise advice.

Cheers Beverley i think we all need this now and again
