Fun With Google Ranking

Just some thoughts and Frustrations with Google Ranking. I have read soo many things in so many places about Google Ranking and how to Rank 1st page. Some tell how to do it 24 hour fast. Some tell how to do it with Videos on YouTube. Soo many Ideas that are nice and seem easy. At least at first. Then it seems for some of us Poor Folks, easier said than done. So far, I have never made it past page 9. Then it went to page 10, then page 12, then 13, and then 14, but jumps beyond page 20 in between the other Page Ranks. Never know from day to day! I think it has stayed at Page 12 the most.

Then I saw a person who Barley had more than a Website Name and a couple of page Titles get ranked on Page 1, Place 1. They were confused about it. I thought must be nice, but then it Confused me as well until I thought about it. If all of his info has no Competition, then why not be on the 1st page.

I know they say Google is always trying to do the best in ranking people's Websites to avoid losing Web Searchers Confidence in them.

I have not had good Luck with trying to get my Website Rank info on Google, so I have to depend on Rank checking Tool at Jaaxy, which is nice and Simple to use! I know putting Keywords in the Right places without using too many Keywords is important. I know Building Good Content to Support Website Title and Keywords is Important, and of course, hope not to get drowned out by too much Competition.

Basically, it seems if the phrase(s) you're trying to rank well for aren't competitive QSR (that is, few other sites are using the same phrase) then getting good placement seems like it should be pretty easy: Just put the phrase(s) you want to rank well for in the <title></title> tag and in at least one other area on the page. Also, it is good you use your Keywords in Phrases.

Basically, it seems Good Keywords with little Competition in your Website Title and other Titles could help on Google Page rank some. Of Course, can't forget about good Content to Support Key Words!

If your phrase is competitive? Then you're going to need to make your site worthy of ranking well. Think about it: When you search Google, don't the best sites for your search phrase usually come up first? Do you think that's an accident or coincidence? Hell no. Oops! Google wants to list the best sites first because if Google returns bad sites then people will start using Yahoo or Bing instead.

I know I may just be speaking what is on my mind, but I Urge anyone with Good Experience in Google Page Ranking and know how they did it to please Share with the Class! LOL. Just hoping to find more answers for myself and everyone else that is working Soo hard to have Good Page Ranking on Google to help get more traffic and Income.

I know Success Is Possible for All!

Thanks!

Michael

Apparently I have accidentally been using the low hanging fruit approach. Probably because I use weird search phrases! Sometimes my website is pg 3 and sometimes I can't find it. But I will become more consistant with practice.

Your Google Page Ranking article provided me with some direction of what to look for and some ideas about page ranking and the wisdom behind Google's page ranking business model.

cruzyn, Happy to help!
Michael

Thanks Michael, very good blog.

Thank You Sheden. Have a nice night!
Michael

You too.

VERY interesting...

Hey, Michael. Great post and thanks for the insight. To be honest, I still get annoyed a frustrated when nearly every new post I create now lands on Google page 2 and beyond. I do have a few page 1 rankings which is great but can be still frustrating not seeing the desired results.

However, if we keep pumping out product reviews, our rankings and traffic will improve over time.

Neil

Neil, Thanks for the Comment. I understand the Frustration. I agree that no matter what, we must continue Pumping Out Product to keep improving our Ranking and Traffic!

Hello Michael
I have just checked your site in open explorer, and basically your site has
1. Site Authority of 9
2. Only 2 backlinks

These are both important factors in ranking a site.

I would concentrate on building authority to your site first. You can do this by linking OUT from your site to other authority websites, such as Wikipedia or news sites.(You can use Open Explorer to check the authority of any website) I would vary these outgoing links on a per page basis, 1,2 or 3 depending on the size of your page,

Ensure that the keyword you link out from goes to a relevant page, and that the content is related to what you are writing about.

Second, I would find blogs in the affiliate marketing, SEO or related niches, and place a constructive and relevant comment to the article, this would give you a back-link in from an authority site,

You do not have to worry about Follow or No Follow links here, what you are looking for is a link back from a well ranked website, as Google will see your site as more important.

Head over to Open Explorer (Become a free member of Moz for unlimited access) Take a look at the sites, that are ranking for your keywords, and look at their links, and authority - all can be seen from Open Explorer.

Armed with this information you can try and achieve the same back-links, and replicate and improve on their success.

There is obviously a lot more you can do, but this should give your pages a jump start.

Hope that helps

Paul

Paul, Thank you for very nice information. I am sure it will help many including myself!

Hi Michael, I use long tail and low hanging fruit keywords.. traffic might not be so high, but something is better than nothing. I can usually get page 2/3/4 when I do an incognito search myself, but I am sure organic traffic is coming through keywords I've not intentionally targeted, as I have a steady flow coming in.

I'm not brave enough to go for the more competitive keywords yet as I think my niche is pretty busy. What is your niche?

I am intrigued to know how others are achieving page one, though, so will be following this blog with interest - thank you!

LittleClaire, Thanks for good Comment. I agree that I would rather have a low # of Traffic and be on Page 1 than a whole lot of Traffic and be on page 20. I have tried the same as you, but I never know what my Google Rank will be from day to Day. At this moment, the main Website I am working on Promotes WA. I hope the information you give and everyone else gives will assist in giving helpful answers to everyone. The more tricks we learn the better chances we will have. Being that every Website is different from one another, it may take a different trick per website to succeed, but knowing which tricks to try will be a big Start!
Michael

Thanks, Michael! :)

Totally agree! I don't feel like I can offer a lot of advice to be honest, as I am pretty new too all of this, but I am sure someone with a whole lot more knowledge will come along and give us the low down.

I wish I could find out the exact keywords people are using to get to my site, but as far as I can tell, Google analytics doesn't display this detail? If we could see that, then we could focus more on the areas that people are interested in.

What I do know about the affiliate marketing niche as a whole though, is that there is a heap of competition. There are some big names out there dominating the scene. That is why, for the time being, I'm not going to promote WA because I want to be able to put a new spin on it and stand out from the crowd. As yet, the mind boggles as to how to do this.

I've wondered some of the same things Michael. My site name if typed into Google as one would normally type 3 words (basically not connected together) one two three, not onetwothree. and I am ranked on the first page 6th and 7th place. now I'm no expert and barely had any content when this happened. I just checked and yep - still there first page 6 and 7 -
check see (I'm not promoting my site)
type: learn recording today into Google and scroll down a bit and you'll see my site twice, 6 and 7 rank.
Now my question is it that my site name have that low of competition or did I happen to do something very right and not know it?
Thoughts?

EKautz, I wish I knew. I see some sites that look like an enormous amount of work that has been put into and seems like a Good Site to me, yet not even show in the 1st 20 pages of Google. Definitely Complicated! Google is always changing their Ranking Algorithm so I can only say do the best we can and try to follow the Good advice given by people like Kyle and Jay. Always hoping for the best. Nice Comment!
Michael

Thanks Michael - and your 100% correct about advice given by the guys! Hey maybe we can build an algorithm to figure out Google's algorithm ... sounds like a niche to me. LOL

If I type in my website name directly all of my sites come up. (mind you I've been playing with the name for a long time before I even knew how to get a website domain name. When you type in According2janith I am all over page one. And it's because, I'm the only person that knows what it is. If you put in the subject/content about autism from my site...I'm like at about 212 (ranking)
But I understand completely. I wish I had the magic key words to make it all better...Not sure how to do it myself. However, after training all month I think I have a better understanding. (like mud)
Thanks it was good reading that someone else has the same frustrations...Janith

jjannbach, Thank you for the nice Comment!
Michael

Nice blog I enjoy this you make Google Ranking understandable for us how don't really get it.

ajmmdm1983, Thanks. I am afraid Understandable may always be an overstatement when it come to Google. LOL! Thanks for the Comment!
