Today's Big Surprise
I became a member of Wealthy Affiliate on August 2, 2016 just over 60 days ago with no ideas about what a niche was let alone how to build a website. I started out going through WA's Affiliate Bootcamp, reading everything I could get my hands on, and doing each task as quickly as I could. Sometimes I even went back to make sure I didn't skip anything. The result was http;//myaffiliatemaster.com which I built to teach others what I was learning. That is the site I use to promote WA.
While I was building that site I started watching webinars that Jay does every Friday and found a 4 part series he did last year. In these webinars he built a niche website and finally it clicked in my head. I know what a niche is.
In Jay's 4 part series, he built a website promoting NFL Snack Helmets and asked everyone not to copy the idea. I wanted to build one promoting College Football Snack Helmets so I googled that phrase and found a large number articles about college football and other things related to college football. I only found one website that promoted the snack helmets and they were on the second or third page.
I went ahead and started building the site. I found out that not all colleges have a snack helmet available on Amazon but so far they all have a fan shop. Right now I have 137 published pages with only 3 posts. I wrote the first one on 10/4, I wrote the second last night, and the third one I wrote today.
My big surprise came around 6:30 this morning. On a whim I Googled "college football snacks" (my second post was titled Bacon Wrapped Potatoes with Creamy Dill Sauce) and BOOM, there it was. I posted it to my Google+ account and at 6:30 this morning it was on the first page of Google. Position #2 after only 7 hours.
Here's a screenshot. It shows 15 hours because I didn't have time to do the screenshot before leaving this morning.
Needless to say, I'm a believer. The training here at WA is second to none and in my book worth every penny spent to become a premium member.
Thanks Kyle, Jay, and all of you involved in the community (which of course is everyone else) for all the help.
Mike
