10 ways to write a headline that compels attention!

Hello, My Friend…

Most professionals who write content for Blog Posts and Web Pages affirm that one big reason, if not the only one, some Blog Posts or Web Pages create a selling frenzy is the HEADLINE!The same holds true for the subject of your E-mail.

The reason for this, content writers affirm, is because the Blog reader or the Website visitor allows himself only between three and five seconds to see if the HEADLINE is worth reading further …or should he move on somewhere else where the Headline compels him to read the content!

Few, if anybody, challenges this affirmation:

1.-Because everybody knows or feels when he or she is in front of a headline that tells clearly what the content is about;

2.-Because whether your content is good or not, everybody knows that a great HEADLINE will get visitors further into the content;

3.-Because everybody wants a great HEADLINE, though not all of us write one every time we Blog or write content for our Web pages; and,

4.-Because everybody loves a great HEADLINE!

BUT HOW DO YOU CREATE A HEADLINE THAT COMPELS ATTENTION?

You’ll be surprised to know that one can always tell who you hang around with, by the HEADLINES your write.

If you are NOT a born content headline writer, don’t struggle! Hang around the Blogs and Websites or E-mail of those known to be among the best in their trade …Writers of Content That Sells!

1.-Read the Blogs of at 14 or 18 of these Bloggers. Study theirHEADLINES and make a swipe file of them;

2.-Read their Websites frequently.Study their HEADLINES and file them for future reference and analysis;

3.-DO NOT steal, borrow or otherwise use someone else’s material.But if you see a headline that says:

4.-WAYS TO WRITE A COMPELLING POST! Get Inspired, emulate it; and, overlay your headline over them as:

1 Amazing Starter Membership …It’s FREE!

If you really read it and listen, you’ll be surprised how you’ll get inspired.Now, just overlay your headline into it.The compelling, or keywords or Tag words in the entire Item 3 above are:

a.-4 Ways to Write;

b.-Compelling Post;

c.-3 Tips to Write;

d.-Compelling Headline:

e.-Amazing;

f.-It’s FREE!

4.-Your Headline should be short …maximum 60 characters is a good length to strive for.Any longer headline will throw the Search Engines of tract and diminish your RANKING!

5.-Making your HEADLINE into a Question, insinuating the answer is in the Content below.…people always have or want the answer!

6.-Put excitement in your headline …the Exclamation point and Question mark do it very well!

7.-Be clear. Tell the reader exactly how your product will help them. “Here is how I can solve your problem” is the sentiment you want them to feel.

8.-Use a “number of steps” formula. If your product will solve a problem in a certain number of steps, say so.People love simple solutions to their problems.

9.-Use a “number of ways” formula. Use this instead of a number of steps. If your product offers alternative solutions to a problem then say so right up front.

10.-Use an “in under” formula. When time or money is involved, using an “in under” or “for less than” approach works well.One example is “How to succeed online for under $100!” If you can deliver on your promise then make the strongest statement possible.

Talk to your specific audience. If your product works better for women than men say so up front. A headline that starts “For women who want …” will attract the women visitors quickly and let them know you understand them.

Make them qualify. This is a more advanced headline technique but it works well if you are brave enough to try it. You are basically saying that you are not sure they are qualified to buy this product and they need to see if they do indeed qualify for the wonderful offer you are sharing. Many big-name marketers use this approach, especially when selling higher-end products or courses. Why? It works!

Using these ten steps you can create powerful headlines for your website, your emails, your blog, or anywhere else you might want to compel people to stop and pay attention.

If you do you will make more sales, get more sign-ups and watch as your marketing becomes more and more effective.
