In my last blog post I told you folks how I whipped out 12 posts out of my goal of 14 in 7 days. And when I got done I was beat!

I didn't make the goal, but it was fun trying !

I think I will try to have a week like that one week per month. If I ever make the goal that will be great, but if not, I have found some new ways to challenge myself! And that is really fun and productive. Making little competitions with myself is always a blast and seeing if I can beat my old records makes it a really fun adventure !

There were a couple of days when I got 3 posts done and the rest of the time I got 1 or 2. The 2 days I didn't have to work and just sat at the computer for something like 18 hours straight! Kind of crazy huh! I doubt I'll be trying that kind of Kamikaze week again, but I will continue to push!

The reason for this goal?

I have a bad habit of procrastination! Really bad ! So I planned this goal as an exercise to combat that habit of procrastinating!

Let me say this: I doubt any of you are procrastinators, you just have a habit of procrastinating!

My procrastination is caused mainly by getting sidetracked and thinking about getting started instead of just starting!

But several things have happened along my short journey at Wealthy Affiliate that have helped me change a lot of that. I have documented some things in former blogs, but the biggest things have been in recent weeks !

Anyone can do it!

If we did a survey of people here at Wealthy Affiliate from the best and most successful to the person that started 5 minutes ago, I am likely average to slightly lower than average. I'm not special and surely not a super man of the blogging world ! Heck I just started in February!

But one thing I can do is put in the work it takes to make up the difference !

Anyone here can do what it takes ! But most are hampered by two things, just like me! Procrastinating and "I don't have time".

Don't take this wrong, but there may be a few people here that have obligations or situations that means they really do have a limited amount of time.

But there are many people like me who have the time, but it's just misused! For instance if you are frustrated with your progress and think it's because you don't have time, yet you watched Law and order instead of getting the work done, that's part of your problem. Trust me I'm not your judge because it's just like I said I have a lot of the same issues!

You just have to decide what you want and what you want more, thayt's all. I want success more than Television, YouTube, and procrastination. And I fight all the above every day, even now!

What has changed my cycle?

1 OF 2

A few blog posts I pointed out a book called The Five-Second Rule : By Mel Robbins.

Get that book and read it ! It is the single best defense against procrastination and training on how to avoid it. And that is only a small part of what's in there!

Book #2 is Crush It: By Gary Vaynerchuk , Gavry Vee's book is a handbook on the grind of starting and growing and what the road will look like, and what to expect!

I read quite a bit. But these two books will change your pursuit of success both here at WA and other endeavors in your life ! If you are frustrated or thinking about quitting, get these two books!

2 OF 2

I read the latest success stories by Jerry Huang and Liitle Mama (Grace), and it set me on fire ! There are others as well, but these two sum it up great!

Jerry and Grace have worked their butts off and are seeing the rewards ! And they are earning every freaking step of it! F.Y.I. they are doing what we all say we want to do. But are we putting in the work that they are putting in? I wasn't, but I am now!

Jerry and Grace are getting it done and they are growing fast! They are a great inspiration to everyone here !

Where to now?

So what are we going to do? Stay in our comfort zone or go get what it is we want?

Thomas Jefferson was given credit for this famous quote although it was never found in any of his writings:

"To get something you've never had, you must do something you've never done"

Now let's go get it ! Keep on keeping on !

Best of success !

Mike

Hi Mike,
WOW! That is a lot of writing in 7 days. I am considering trying to do a post every day for 30 days?? I don't have so much of a procrastination problem as a "butterfly syndrome"! --- as my husband calls it! I easily get distracted and pulled in other directions, such as trying to learn Facebook and Pinterest and trying to pick up tips from free webinars! I am really trying to stay focused and keep re-doing the training. I am familiar with Gary Vaynerchuk, not so much the other one. But I will try to track down these books at the library and read them. Is that another distraction?? Best of luck to you, and here is wishing you meet your next goal! Take care.

Hey Better Days you sound exactly like me I am trying to take in too much information and I am the world's worst to get side tracked. I think maybe it comes with age. I like what you husband said about the butterfly syndrome, we are just flittering around everywhere. That word I used may not be a word, but it seems to fit.I am beginning to learn that WA is all that I need, and I am going to go over the lessons and leave the other stuff for a later time.

You can do it! I still struggle too and likely always will!
One of the big steps with the 5 second rule is getting out of bed !

I set my clock. On top of that clock I put a note that says "Want it".

When I roll over to hit the snooze, I see that note...5...4...3...2...1..and I launch out of bed ! It sounds stupid but it absolutely works !
It allows me an extra hour per day to work on my website!
I work on it till time to dress for work then his save .

Best of success!

Thank you, my brother, for this work of inspiration. I recall some words of advice from a singer of old who warned "Starting all over again is gonna be rough, hold on and we're gonna make it". Back then, I followed the advice and I had some of my greatest successes and adventures thereafter. I'll continue to keep on keeping on.to be able to gain the best experiences of the rest of my life. Thank you for the inspiration.

OMG! Are you kidding me ! I love Johnny Taylor! That isn't the only song that speaks to your soul!

We may just be kindred spirits my friend !

Best of success to you!
Mike

Thanks for reminding me of the name of the singer. Isn't it strange how many people are affected by our words without us knowing?

Good going there Mike. There is no better way to get a kick in the pants than to do it your self.It is unforgettable. I fetched one here which should last in my memory for a long time. I am fighting that monster as well and have found myself conquering it even as I am writing this response. It is now 12:15 midnight. I got home from my job at 10:30. I have a full time job which occupied my time from midday till ten at night.I am up some times until 3:00 AM.But I think I got this bull by the horn this time and I am bringing it down. What else can a success hungry man do when he is associating with such a large, caring and dedicated family like you, but to put the shoulders to the wheel and push? Thanks for your transparency. I am on your heels.
Much thanks.

Go get it! It's there waiting!
Beating the procrastination monster is something many of us will have to fight ! But it's winnable !
Just make up your mind and get it in your spirit!

Best of success!
Mike

Wow this post got me fired up alone boss. Thank you for sharing these two books, I will definitely give them a go!

Wish you the best moving forward boss,

Brandon

Same to you my friend !
Now GO GET IT!

Best of success!
Mike

I think to avoid putting things off until later you have to break things up into tiny steps. It makes tasks seem less overwhelming and difficult. You start with one step, you finish quite easily and then you are on to the next step. If one of the steps is more challenging than expected break it down even more and do take a break. Come back when your brain has been refreshed and start the process all over again. You may get a bit done at a time, but you will get something done. Also if you can subscribe to channels like Netflix. You can watch a program any old time then. You really cannot use that has an excuse to not do your work at WA.

Exactly right !
Progress is success !

Best of success to you !
Mike
