Disappearing Affiliate Programs

Hi Everyone.

I have a general question regarding the closing of Affiliate programs.

My website is in the general "home and garden" niche.

My main platform for Afilliate companies in AWIN, but not just AWIN.

I have been signed up with some well known names and some lesser known names for a couple of years now.

In the last 6 Months i have received 6 Affiliate Program Closure notices. I have had a few closure notices in the last 2 months.

These are actual closures of the entire programs rather than just me being kicked off, I find this odd and very disconcerting as the work that was put in is now useless in terms of having any chance of making money.

My Question - Has anyone elese noticed this?

Maybe its something to do with the pandemic resulting in more peple buying on line?

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts and experiences.

Regards Mike

It's been going on since the beginning of time in every industry. Companies come and go. Yes, it's frustrating, but it's part of the way things work.

So, you do have a couple of options.

Normally when a program closes, the network offers alternative merchants in the same vertical. Check those out to see if they will work for you. You can also look for those same products, or very similar products, through another source. Odds are good you will find something that works, so that all of your hard work isn't wasted, it just needs to be updated.

There might be a little greed in there akin to what Amazon did by bottoming out there commissions some time ago, Mike! As demand increase, it seems that Affiliate programs choose to forget those people who got them where they are!

I hope it settles down soon!

I haven’t noticed closures, but many of the affiliate programs have reduced their commission rates (not just Amazon). It can be frustrating.

As Mick says it happens all the time in that niche. Which specific programmes are clsoing Mike

Hi Dave,

Many - Ranging from big designer names to smaller companies who are little known in the UK outside the specialist area of interior design and lighting,

Mike

Oh okay. it might be time to re -evaluate then.

Happens all the time and nothing you can do about it.

I have written many reviews and those products and services no longer are about but they do still have traffic.

Meaning that people are still searching for those products and services.

Once they have found your site maybe there could be something that you could offer for FREE, like a course or something.
