I left the permalink at the defsult but now want to change it to the permalink with postname. I've changed it in the settings on the website but gow do I update it?

In the post or page editor, right below the title is the permalink. Click it and you can change the permalink :)

Yes, you have to if you're not happy with the permalink. Your wp dashboard has settings is you want your permalink to be a page number, your post title, or with dates. What don't you like about your permalink anyway?

I left the default and it is just a page number of that post in the database.
