Lets Rank Together!
Can I express an opinion and, more generally, a model that I believe would work very well and greatly help students and new bloggers on Wealthy Affiliate? I was wondering if it would be possible for us to send links to each other's websites so that our authority in the eyes of Google and its algorithm would increase! I would be very happy to discuss this idea and share our opinions on it!

Hi - actually, link exchanges for the purposes of increasing domain authority are against Google's terms and conditions and can do more harm than good.
Hello Diane!! How does Google's algorithm understand this? Is it because it sees low-ranking websites linking to each other?
Hi - this is what Google says -
"Google uses links as a factor in determining the relevancy of web pages. Any links that are intended to manipulate rankings in Google Search results may be considered link spam. This includes any behavior that manipulates links to your site or outgoing links from your site. The following are examples of link spam:
Buying or selling links for ranking purposes. This includes:
Exchanging money for links, or posts that contain links
Exchanging goods or services for links
Sending someone a product in exchange for them writing about it and including a link
Excessive link exchanges ("Link to me and I'll link to you") or partner pages exclusively for the sake of cross-linking."
To be honest, a low-ranking site linking to your own, could potentially bring down your authority.
You will really only get any benefit if a high-ranking site with a Domain Authority of at least 40, links back to you.
And the only way that is going to happen, is if you have some incredible, unique content, that has not been seen before, and the higher authority site thinks it is worth sharing with its own readers.
Plus, linking with WA members could be a problem anyway, they would need to have a highly relevant site in the same niche as you, and you would need to be confident that their values, content and standards are something you would be proud to be associated with.
It really isn't worth it, trying to manipulate Google, you will be caught in the end!
You are right, I fully understand it now! So, to rank higher on Google for the specific topic you have chosen, your content needs to be exceptional. But to be honest, I create my content using AI, then edit it 2-3 times and add some of my own thoughts or ideas... and I believe it will be very difficult to get links to my site (I don't know why :/). Have you had a site for over a year and received links?
I have several websites, and the top-performing site was receiving approximately 17,000 visitors per month at a year old, with lots of natural backlinks, from others linking to it.
This was before AI, all the content was completely original, written entirely by myself and my business partner, with extensive research on the topics.
And it had no affiliate links, the income was earned through ad networks.
However, it was unfortunately hit by the latest Google algorithm updates and now only really receives visitors through its associated social media sites - Pinterest, Medium and YouTube.
These days, in my opinion, you need to build up your brand, and use social media, not just rely on website traffic.
It's amazing how you managed to reach 17,000 visitors per month in just one year... I'm trying to do the best SEO I can, taking as many lessons as possible each week, and we'll see how it goes... Thank you so much for your interest and for your help!!! Good luck with your websites!
