Why Care?
Before asking why you "should" care, maybe it would be worth thinking about the fact that you actually "do" care.
Us human beings are emotional and moral beings - we find it impossible to observe other people's behaviour without reacting emotionally and morally (though not always rightly!) to it.
Because we are good at "thinking", we can learn to override our initial emotional reactions and behave as detached, almost scientific observers in certain circumstances.
But this requires an effort, even if we don't recognise it as such........how many of us can relate to this?
We care about other people because we can't help it. When we cease to care altogether, I guess we cease to function as humans.
The important question, then, is how do we live our lives while still caring about other people, given how painful and demanding that can be?
Something to think about!
Cheers,
Michael

Thanks for sharing Michael. Actually the answer to your question "Why Care" is given in your post by yourself: " We care about other people because we can't help it. When we cease to care altogether, I guess we cease to function as humans."
Very well said, Michael. We are social creatures. That is our nature to help what we can.
