Becoming a Better Story Teller & Communicator
Good day all, it's a great time to be alive!
When we are trying to get our message out there and tell our stories whether it's on a podcast, in a video, a written story, teaching a child a lesson, trying to sell somebody on something, we need to focus in on becoming better story tellers.
Hopefully, I can inspire you to do this too.
Stories are how we learn, it's in our DNA, it's how our ancestors learned before computers and TV and even before radio it was books and it was sitting around the campfire and telling stories.
One of my objectives is to become a better story teller.
How can I learn to tell stories that are engaging so my audience can learn in a better way?
If you have any of your own suggestions please leave it in a comment below!
If you can start to become a better story teller you are going to become a better communicator and a better leader.
A lot of times when people are trying to build a business we just share the features for example if you are reviewing WA and you just go on about detail after detail without sharing a story of your experience with WA. Instead of just talking about the details and features of something we have to incorporate benefits by adding some story.
If you're selling a speaker system you tell a story about hearing it for the first time, how it blew you away. We need to get their attention, we need to get them engaged.
Anyone who is producing content needs a story list because that's what makes you different and what makes you unique.
I use to think I wasn't a good story teller, I didn't want to share, I didn't think that I had anything interesting happen to me that people care to know about. Now I'm in the process of changing that mindset.
When people can see your stories it really allows you to engage and grow with people.
That's why I want to become a better story teller. I've started to see what I can learn from great story tellers by reading listening and watching them tell stories.
Today I started listening to "On Writing" by Stephen King on Audible. It's Stephen King discussing how he writes and it's really good.
Next on this subject, I plan on studying "The Power of Myth" by Joseph Campbell.
Good stories have conflicts and resolutions.
Just focus on becoming a better story teller. You don't have to get so technical in your story telling that you got to have the conflict and the resolution.
Just start to understand that people really learn from stories and practice by telling people around you stories and you will get better at it.
Understand people are emotional. We are not thinkers that feel, we are feelers that think. People want to hear the benefits more than the features in a story. When you are telling a story you want them to feel the story. Give them the ability to think about things and allow them to paint the picture, it's what great story tellers do.

I think you've got a great idea here about the importance fo telling stories to engage the reader.
I suppose instead of conflict and resolution; we might try identifying the problem that people want to solve.
Good post.
Many thanks & excellent point - Identify problems (conflicts) and help people solve them (resolutions)!

This is great, this is what it is really about. Great story telling. I am envious of my oldest daughter's wit... she is funny without even trying. She says a lot of things that are actually ambiguous and makes you stop and think. Even more than that, she makes you feel listened to, she is compassionate and on your side.
That's what I try to do with my articles... People don't always remember what you said or what you looked like, they remember how you made them feel.
So I want to make them feel good, inform them something new, try to make them smile and lighten up a little! It's just life!
