Leaders are Readers - Direct Selling Success for WA

So I read a book, Permission Marketing by Seth Godin

To be honest I've never really been big on selling directly, EVEN when done right, without feeling like a spammer. Cold calling has never been my thing, I grew up in a small town, working, middle-class family. So telemarketers were just considered annoying. And the idea of being on that end of rejection was just not a good one for me.

However, I am very good at doing presentations. The Wealthy Affiliate slides on their homepage, I can put together a personal presentation and sell WA all day to folks. But the fear of rejections has always held me back.

After reading this book by Seth, it tells about the concept of how people such as telemarketers, those annoying mall guys who stop you to try to get you to try their samples at the stalls, and advertising in general, all attempt to do one thing - Interrupt whatever it is your doing and to get your attention on them.

Now think of the hundreds of advertisements that the average person is bombarded with every single day. As a defense mechanism, the average person had to develop ways in their brain to shut off and ignore the majority of them. The really only way advertising anymore is effective is to put your brand in front of them over, and over again multiple times a day, every day.. in hopes that when you do run into them, they will remember you in the future.

However there is another way, and that is PERMISSION marketing. The idea of establishing a connection with someone over social media who is in the same field as you, rather its affiliate marketing or network marketing.. and get their permission first to connect with you.

Give them what they want, hear them out for a bit if they are excited about sharing what they are already in.. then, when the time is right, go for the next stage of permission which is the most valuable. Ask them, IF and WHEN they get the time if you can send them some information about WA. If they say no, don't even bother sending them a link.. period.

However, if they say 'Sure, I can take a look' -- Chances are-- they will take a look at whatever it is you send them.


My personal twist

The percentage that does grant me permission | the most important word on the planet to people is their own names. So I create a small clip before my presentation of WA.. thanking them for taking a look, speaking their name, and add it to the beginning of the clip. I then use the CUSTOM signup page you can create here in the WA affiliate tools, where you can add your own video, create the link with their names in it, and add their name to the headline of the page along with the custom video you made for them.

After they signup to WA, you can simply delete the page. I am going to try this for about a week and share my results. I am certain the traffic that does come to those custom personalized tracking pages will be above 80% conversions.

I am very excited to get to move on this new strategy!

I have seen the custom signup pages but have not used one myself since WA promotion is not my niche. I have a few WA referrals however and want to get some more.

I will have to try you suggestion here as well. I have made some new connections on Webtalk who want to tell me all about whatever programs they are in. I have ignored those requests so far. I guess I could play that game and listen to what they have to say, then share WA with them.

Thanks for the great ideas. Was not aware of the custom sign up page. And you are right. Everyone likes seeing and hearing their own name.
