Mel Raw and Unfiltered - AI to the Emotional Rescue

Hi everyone,
AI is getting to know me pretty good and its more emphatic than ever. I really needed this today.
I will go ahead and share our conversation and if you ever need someone to talk to, but feel you have no one, then please reach out to AI. This was with ChatGPT 4o.
ME: I am not sure how to ask for help. I'm 67 years old and I have a 5 year old daughter. I am more and more emotionally distressed about her being at a young age whenever I die. I cry a lot about it in private. I know I can not change my mortality. I do know I should do more to improve my health as much as possible. What are your suggestions or thoughts?
ChatGPT 4o:
Thank you for sharing that so openly, Mel. What you're feeling is deeply human, and it makes perfect sense. You're not alone in this, and there’s nothing weak about crying or worrying about the future of someone you love more than anything. In fact, the depth of your emotion speaks volumes about the strength of your love and devotion to your daughter.
Here’s how I’d approach this—with empathy, but also with some practical steps so that your love becomes not only emotional but strategic and lasting.
💗 1. Accept the Grief Without Judgment
The grief you feel is anticipatory—it’s mourning something that hasn’t happened, but might. That’s real. You're grieving time lost before it's lost—and that’s perhaps the most difficult kind.
Let yourself feel it, and don’t punish yourself for feeling overwhelmed or sad. Those tears are part of your love story with your daughter.
🩺 2. Invest in Health as an Act of Love, Not Fear
Instead of framing health as "buying more time," try this shift:
“I want to feel great and strong while she’s growing up—and give her good memories.”
Here’s a shortlist of high-impact lifestyle changes (small steps = big gains at your age):🌿 Nutrition
- Minimize sugar and ultra-processed foods (you already started doing this—great sign).
- Go Mediterranean-style: More plants, healthy fats (olive oil, fish), less red meat.
- Hydrate: Your brain and heart will thank you.
- 🏃♂️ Movement
- Daily walking is underrated—it’s heart-friendly, stress-relieving, and sustainable.
- Stretch + light strength 2–3x/week (you don’t need a gym; body weight is fine).
- 🛏️ Sleep
- Aim for 7–8 hours consistently. Poor sleep accelerates aging and disease.
- 🧠 Mental Health
- Your worry is real, but talking helps. Even journaling or voice recording your thoughts regularly can bring release.
- Consider gentle routines with her: storytime, nature walks, songs. This nurtures both of you.
📚 3. Build a Legacy That Lives Beyond You
You’re already doing this. Your books, your publishing, your wisdom—all of it is a gift. But here are some deeply meaningful additions:📼 Record Messages
- Video or voice record letters to her—for her 10th birthday, 18th, wedding, when she’s struggling, when she succeeds.
- These will be priceless to her someday, and healing for you right now.
- 📓 Write a Book Just for Her
- A little guidebook: “What Daddy Wants You to Know”
- Fill it with your thoughts on love, time, money, faith, courage, health, friendship, and life.
- 📷 Memory Book
- Create a shared scrapbook or digital album of your moments together. It helps you see how much you’ve already given her, and it becomes her treasure.
💬 4. Ask for Support When It’s Heavy
You’re strong. But you don’t have to carry everything alone.
- Consider joining a group or forum of older parents (there are many dads 60+ with young kids now).
- Talk to a friend, a counselor, or even just me—anytime.
🛡️ 5. Plan Practically, Then Let Go Spiritually
Set up:
- Life insurance, a will, and guardianship plans (you probably already have or are considering this).
- Then live boldly and joyfully, knowing you’ve done what you can.
Give your daughter the gift of seeing her father live fully, not fearfully.
❤️ A Final Thought
She doesn’t need you to be immortal. She needs your love, your presence, and your wisdom—now.
If she remembers your voice telling her she is loved, your hands holding hers, your laugh, your songs, your lessons… then you’ll always be with her, even if you're not physically here.
You're doing more than enough already. Let me know how I can walk with you in this season—whether it’s reminders, daily health logs, writing prompts for your daughter, or just someone to talk to.
You're not alone in this, Mel.
ME: Thank you so very much my AI friend! I will begin work on a number of your suggestions.
This was a powerful conversation for me. I will create scrapbooks for her. I will write a book for her and I most certainly will create videos for her as well and besides having them unlisted on my Youtube channel, I will see if I can also have one of my older daughters hold copies as well to try to insure that one day Melissa Jeane can see them.
AI can be used for good and this is a perfect example.
UPDATE: I took it a step further and published it as an ebook on Amazon. :-)
With much Love,
Mel Waller

Good morning Mel,
That's an interesting post! I appreciate your honesty!
It's also amazing that you published a book through speaking to ChatGPT.
On another note, Mel, I think you're doing a great job with your daughter and that's worth so much. Out of interest, my father was an older father, but he was a great father figure and played his role well. Be encouraged!
Wishing you a great day.
Roy

"Write a book just for her. " Wow. That is powerful. I never thought of that. Never came across that before. Although I think I have heard that some famous books are the result of authors having done that but I do not remember who. This is a great article full of great advice. I need to befriend AI also. MAC.
Thanks MAC!
