Mel Draws From His Toolbox To Stay Out of His Comfort Zone
Hi everyone,
As I previously discussed needing to get out of my comfort zone:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/melwaller/blog/the-need-to-get-out-of-our-comfort-zone
It turns out I have a much needed tool in my toolbox that I have used before, but not in this way.
Marine Mel
It has become clear that Regular Mel will just fall back into his comfort zone at any opportunity so I have activated Marine Mel because I MUST change in many areas of my life.
Marine Mel has never let me down.
I normally utilize Marine Mel in emergencies, difficult situations and getting out of harm's way.
I want to take this opportunity to thank my brother, Les Waller for getting me to join the U.S. Marines back in 1980 and I spent 8 years with them. Thanks Les!
What tools could you use to break and stay out of your comfort zone until you at least build in permanent habits to get the job done?
To Our Success!

Sometimes a nudge from someone else to get us going in the right direction is what we need. Thanks Mel

My tools are all over the house these days; garage, my office, basement, shed. Oh, wait! You are talking about tools to stay out of your comfort zone. Silly me!
GPT is my best tool so far. When I'm feeling like I'm not moving I talk to him. Recently, he helped me get over the procrastination obstacle and created two affiliate videos (the boxes were just sitting on my desk being ignored before that).
The other tool is self-reflection. If I find myself just sitting at my desk I think to myself "what could I be doing right now that accomplishes something, even if its a small thing?".
I bet you weren't thanking me in boot camp, hehehe. I was sure wondering what the hell I was doing there at times. Don't regret any of it now, though.
Semper Fi!
Les
Thanks for sharing Les!
The very first night of bootcamp, I contemplated going UA because the recruiter had lied to me. I decided to stay and perhaps do something legal after bootcamp rather than get myself in even more trouble. Smart move on my part and it no longer mattered to Marine Mel after bootcamp.
Mel
I'm curious, having been on recruiting duty myself, what did he say?
As you know there was a week delay for me to go because of a health issue. He promised with dad present that I would still be able to join you once I was there.
Once there, it was announced that I was part of Platoon ###. I raised my hand and said there must be a mistake because I was supposed to join your platoon and yes I got yelled at for that question. haha
So I'm thinking if he lied about that, what other surprises are waiting for me. :-|
Mel
Ah, I see. Glad it all work out in the end.
Thanks Les!
I believe it was better than if I was in your platoon. Interesting how things work out.
Mel
I donβt know if you remember, but when I came over to your platoon one of the things I was really happy about was actually using the water fountain to drink water since we were not allowed
I certainly remember your visit and appreciated it. SSGT Wilburn was experimenting with our platoon which lightened some things up for us.
I also went to him when I could see I was going to fail my 1st phase PFT and he inspired me to do my very best. I will always be grateful to him for that.
Mel
Yeah, I often wonder where they went after that and what became of them.
