Self-Limiting Beliefs
Do you know what a self-limiting belief is?
Any belief that you have about yourself that causes you to NOT reach for what you want, and be who you want to be!!
Set a priority to trash those self-limiting beliefs, and tell yourself as often as necessary that they no longer serve your purpose!!! Every day, and every time you feel yourself making a choice based on a negative thought or belief about who you are and what you are able to do, be conscious of it and SAY SOMETHING KIND AND POSITIVE TO YOURSELF.... like this image below:
And what is your purpose? To ROCK. To be AWESOME. To CONTRIBUTE and HELP OTHERS GROW. To create a life that brings you and others happiness and freedom!
Those self-limiting beliefs have been with me personally for a long, long time (probably just like you!) so it's challenging to overcome them. But It's so possible when you take deliberate action to succeed, and seek guidance.
I learned that from birth through six years old we have no filters to weed through all of the data we receive in our little lives. Some of our brain waves aren’t up and running at that age which left us in a hypnotic state, a figurative sponge for whatever messages were floating around in our familial circle of influences. Yikes!
So if we heard our parents fighting, yelling, and stressing out about money and paying bills, we would soak that in without being able to judge it, rationalize it, solve it, or make any sense of it at all. In that situation, we were left with an impression, or BELIEF, that money is very difficult to deal with, impossible to have enough of, and a cause for much stress, anger, and powerlessness.
I like to keep that in mind when I’m challenged by my self-limiting beliefs about money and my ability to make as much as I want. I can remember that I was just a tiny itty bitty person when these beliefs became part of my psyche, and compassionately and intelligently replace them with new, and more self-empowering (awesome, exciting) beliefs!
And then ACT ON THEM!! Isn't that what we are all here for?
Thanks for reading, and if you have feedback or anything please holler!
I am teachable and open-minded…so I’m learning and doing new things.
I choose to face new challenges with massive courage and confidence.
I banish feelings of unworthiness.
I am completely worthy to have all good things in life…and so I seek them.
I believe in my ability to achieve every goal I set for myself…so I’m acting on them.
I embrace learning and personal development…so I’m becoming my best.
I am free to create the life that I want…so I am.

Very good information and advice here. I feel I'm never too old to learn new things and from very young people, too.
Thank you. Best wishes and great success to you.

Hi Susan,
Thanks for reading! I agree with you of course - we are never too old to learn new things, especially something as important as being kind and nurturing to ourselves. :-)
I wish you much success & happiness,

Melanie! I love this post and I love your affirmations at the end. It's so true that self-limiting beliefs can cause us to have a dysfunctional view of who we are. Even worse, they can stand as a barrier to where we should be. I've written about 67 of the self-limiting beliefs here: 67 Limiting Beliefs That Spoil Your Potential As An Entrepreneur -and the beliefs we should have instead here- The Entrepreneurial Mindset: 101 Beliefs Every Entrepreneur Needs To Have To Be Successful Hopefully this helps others who are reshaping their identities to maximize their potential.
