Relief in Times of Hardship

Do you remember the last time you were in pain? Physical, psychological, emotional pain? What did you do? Did you reach out for a pain killer? Or for another way to dumb the pain? It probably worked in the short-term, right? But the pain came back later?
If so, I would like to share with you an unexpected alternative that has proven to work better in the long-term, is completely free and always available wherever you are...
I thought about writing this post here at WA while writing a comment to Fleeky's post yesterday (for those who did not see it, you can find it here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/fleeky/blog/so-many-of-us-go...
He was saying "Can not help but write this. So many of us going through hard times. All kind of. Financial, emotional, health, relational, job related, family related, society related. The list is long. Lets not forget that. Some speak about it and many keep silent."
In my comment to Fleeky's post, I expressed how, to me, hard times are signs of fast growth: like a seed bursting open to sprout, or a new born chick breaking up through its egg shell to get out... and I do believe that we are all growing fast in this community...
I also wrote that I believe there are ways to "ease" the pain... and that I had a post scheduled to be published on my blog tomorrow (nathalieu.com) about one method I have used for this... And then I wondered... Maybe I should publish it as a WA post first? As a special preview for our beloved WA community?
And so, here it is... a short version of that post... with a personal example about physical pain. I also have a personal example of other difficult life circumstances in the long version. This method can help in ALL difficult circumstances.

What Is EFT Tapping About?
EFT stands for emotional freedom techniques.
Usually, people say EFT or Tapping, not both… to be honest, I am using both words together in this article so you could find it more easily when you were doing your research in search engines.
I personally understand EFT tapping as a way to balance our energy in relation with something that happens in our life that we would rather not happen, whether it is an emotion such as fear, anger, sadness, or something very visible such as a traffic jam (yes! I have eased traffic jams with EFT, under the surprised eyes of my husband and son) or anything in between such as a body ache.
More concretely, studies show that EFT Tapping has a direct effect on stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system and calming the amygdala (the fight/flight/freeze response center). Or in other words, it reduces the stress we feel in a particular situation, “deactivating” the uncontrollable fight, flight or freeze reaction.
Unusual Stomach Pain at 2am
Yeap! A few days ago, I was woken up by a very srong and unusual stomach pain around 2am… I do not remember ever experiencing this type of pain. It was so strong that it made me cry. What on earth was happening? I was fine when I went to bed and there I was in pain… “I know so much about health that things like that should not be happening to me without me understading why” I thought… but there I was, in pain, feeling lost and scared.
My very first reaction whenever something that scares happens, or anytime I face a challenge, is to pray. So I did. I said my usual healing prayer. And I said it again and again… I don’t remember how many times…
I often say that if I have a stain on my pants, prayers are never going to make it disappear… but through prayers I can open myself up to inspiration… to know what to do to make that stain go away… which detergent to use, how to use my washing machine if I have one, or where to find a washing machine if I don’t, or should I just wash it by hands… and then I need to take action based on this inspiration…
Well, same goes to pain… I pray and I get inspired to do something about it… in this case, I was inspired to use tapping. Part of me was thinking that tapping would NEVER be able to help this pain go away… and another part of me has long accepted my intuition as one of the best guides I could ever have… what else could I do? I have no painkillers at home because, thanks to my health knowledge, I normally never feel any pain…
So I started tapping… I did one round… the pain was at the same level, maybe a tiny bit less, but still unbearable… So I made it clear to myself that I would do as many EFT rounds as necessary.
I did a second round. The pain was still there but strangely enough I found myself dozing off for a few seconds towards the end of that 2nd round. The pain was definitely less acute.
I started a 3rd round. Again, I found myself dozing off for a few seconds at a time. I continued and… next thing I know I woke up later that morning. I had fallen asleep! And the pain was totally gone!
Wow! Even for me this was unexpected! I had no pain at all during the day.
One More Night!
But the next night, that same pain was back. Same area, 1 hour later, around 3am this time… less strong than the first night though… I started tapping… but after 3 full rounds, I could not reproduce the same results as the night before… I was not dozing off… and I could not feel any significant change in the level of pain.
And then I realised that I had started tapping without saying any healing prayer… so I said one, a few times, and I started tapping again… I don’t remember counting the tapping rounds I did after the healing prayer. I just woke up later that morning with no pain again.
I do not even remember if I still had a little bit of pain the following night. What is sure is that I did not do more tapping on it.
How Does EFT Tapping Work?
The beauty about EFT is that all you need is one hand. Yes! You’ve heard this well! One hand! AND knowing how to use that one hand.
Here it is simply: you gently tap (some just press) certain points on your body and/or your hand while thinking about what it is that you would like to “solve”.
That’s it! It’s THAT simple! Thank you for reading and good bye! ;-) Just kidding! ;-) Please do stay a little longer!
Which hand do you use? Left or right, either hand is fine. In my experience, tapping the opposite hand is the easiest but you can also do it with the same hand if you choose to press and not tap.
There are various ways to tap… so don’t worry about getting it wrong… you can miss a spot, or add another one… in my experience, the most important is to stay focused on what it is you are trying to improve while you are tapping.
Remember my story about my stomach pain? It took several rounds on two consecutive nights for my stomach pain to go away completely. So if one round is not enough for your situation, don’t hesitate to go for a second, and a third…
And if you believe in the power of prayers and mantras, I would highly recommend to start with that first.

Well... I used to think that too... I now believe food is just one way our energy/vibrations/emotions take form to help us see what we need to work on... energy/vibrations/emotions... but that's a longer discussion... ;-)

Do take care of your health, Nathalie! Initial reading, I see that as a digestive system problem. You need to take note of the food intake and the SEED too. I am going to try out the EFT tapping. Take care: o)
Yes, I know, Terand... but sometimes we know what we should do and still we do something else... which is where EFT tapping really helps... it goes to the root of the issue, which is more about emotions, vibrations, energy... :-)
