Will Facebook be the next Myspace?

That's a question being asked A LOT lately. The answer? Probably. But not right away. See, Facebook came about when MySpace was making tons of unnecessary changes, and getting it's users frustrated. It served its purpose then and there was a mass influx of people. The problem? It's now gotten too big for it's britches. I joined Facebook when it was very very new, right around a year old. Back when you could still measure the amount of users in the thousands, when you could only have one picture on your profile, and you had to belong to a college to even be on there. My how things have changed. Now anyone can join and it's become quite cumbersome to scroll through your newsfeed.

Now, with the increasing popularity of Twitter and Instagram, people are moving that direction. If you want to see pictures, you go to Instagram. If you want to see status updates, you go to Twitter. And, ever so slowly but steadily, if you want to get quality info from your friends without the 50+ game invites daily, you go to Google+. Facebook is becoming a vendor hot spot, though. So, if you want to market your blog on there, it may be a good time to get in while there is still game. But keep in mind, you'll do much better social media wise if you work on ALL social media sites, not just one. I'm quickly learning I need to have all bases covered to keep my engagement up

There are so many things I've been hearing about FB and how the site is limiting business pages' reach in an effort to get businesses to advertise. That's not what I'm there for and I really hate those Sponsored Posts. I'm trying to wean myself off FB. It can be such a time suck.

This is becoming my new hangout over facebook, I just share links on facebook now ;-) I just shared your post, thanks!

I seldom have time for Face Book any more.

Nice to know as I have not really been keeping up, although I know eventually it is a necessity to do so!

I agree that it is important to involve on all the social media sites to do better. But, how regularly should you be updating info on these sites? The reason I am asking is I find it hard to keep up to date because of time. Probably I have to programme myself but I need to pull myself up in this!!

As often as your schedule permits….but don't sacrifice time from building quality content!

Looks interesting….thanks!

Yeah, I read a few articles concerning the future of Facebook. Serious users are fleeing Facebook for Google +.

Good post Megan... been hearing that some internet marketeers are moving away from FB these days. There's a lot of interesting perspectives even here within our awesome community!
