Gain Facebook Followers in a Multi-Vendor Giveaway

So, one way that Facebook wants you to gain 'likes' is through their advertising system. Let me tell you what kiddos, I do Facebook EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. In every way. I hate their advertising system. HATE IT. Because it doesn't work. Hardly at all. So, I do what most page owners call a 'multi-vendor' giveaway to gain fans. Here is how it works:

Large groups of page owners, called 'vendors', get together and create a 'giveaway' of sorts. One larger page usually 'hosts' the giveaway. Then all of the other pages involved pay said page owner a fee. Typically between $20-$30 for a spot. All of the money is pooled together to purchase a large prize, typically a Kindle or iPad, and a few small prizes, like a $100 Amazon Gift Card or PayPal cash. The giveaway is set up through rafflecopter. Anyone who enters must like all pages involved. Usually, you will see anywhere from 30-100 'pages' on any given giveaway. The giveaway will last between 7-10 days for maximum exposure. Then all pages involved advertise the giveaway on their respective pages for their fan bases. There is always a minimum of a once a day sharing rule for these things. Sometimes two. Usually you will have anywhere from 500-2000 people enter these, gaining you that same amount of fans. One giveaway netted me nearly 1k fans in a week. My fee to enter was $25. I spent $15 on ad credit shortly after that. I gained 1 like. Which do you think is more profitable for me? Exactly.

I will warn you, you will lose some likes after a multi-vendor giveaway. Maybe 100 at the most. BUT if you gain 500, and lose 100 (which is extremely unlikely to lose that much. It's usually like 20) you will STILL be ahead 400 likes. That's a darn good job for a week of work and a $30 fee. A woman I typically work with on giveaways had 5k fans in August. She has had 1 giveaway a month since. She is now sitting pretty at about 16k fans. I'd say, she is doing something right, wouldn't you? And her post engagement is amazing. As is her readership.

So, now you know how to gain likes without using a Facebook ad

Can you give us a list of a few of those pages you go to? I'm curious and would like to see if this can work for me.

You are really into Face Book with tons of info.

I've been on FB since I started blogging, and the majority of my traffic came from there, so I try to keep up with everything so I don't get left behind

Where do you reach out to these big page vendors?

I usually do private messages with them. OR I post the info on my own business page and they contact me. Since I do this frequently, I've started creating a name for myself to get people to contact me easier :)

Thanks for the article Megan. Really good information. I have bookmarked your post :)

Thanks so much! Glad I could help :)

Megan, thank you for the information. I will try that with one of my facebook pages. Debbie

Let me know how it goes for you!

Great info Megan... sure do thank ya'!

You're welcome! Anytime :)

Lol, I had no idea this happened on facebook. I am what we call "social media challenged" and I only log on facebook when I start getting lots of emails about people bothering me specifically. I know a lot of people have fan pages and if I ever made one for my site I wouldn't really want to invite my friends to it so it is good to know that there is a way to start to get fans on the site without having to actually track lots of people down.
Do you still use the facebook ads in conjuction with this method or are you focusing more on the giveaways now? I would imagine the only thing is you will end up with lots of fans who arent actually interested in what your site has to offer but exposure is exposure.

I focus mainly on the giveaways as I don't see much traffic with my ads. My giveaways are HUGE for traffic. My ads, on the other hand, are not. So this is the best bang for my buck so to speak

WOW! So if I have my OWN product to offer(ie:// a digital tutorial or a fancy gadget or something, then this is a no-brainer way to go?
I have to read that again!
Thanks for the article!
