Struggling

I started with WA back in February and I've been having a hard time lately. I'm currently going through a period of time where I don't know what to post about on my website and am somewhat lacking in my drive. Every Saturday I usually have at least one post and this Saturday, I honestly don't have the desire...

I've already put a bunch of work into my website and it still doesn't look very good. In order to have more options with my theme, I have to pay like $40 bucks...While I know it's still early on, but I haven't had any success yet. Part of me is thinking about stopping and getting into dropshipping or something else, and part of me still wants to give this more time. I know it can take at least 3 months to start earning, but all I've had is just a few clicks here and there.

I just wanted to get my thoughts out there. Is anyone else having a hard time or struggling? Maybe I just need some time away for a few days.

Hey Matt, glad you posted this too, as certainly been the case for me since starting last October.

I've asked a bunch of questions from those on here doing this full-time, & kinda came up with the 3 most common ideals:

1) I had to stop worrying about how long it had been since starting, and focus purely on building up my content-as many others have mentioned, that's your business' foundation. When stuck for material, I try to remember that ANY thing i write is progress-so just writing SOMETHING, even a few words, is much better than doing nothing at all towards your goals.

2) I had to remember that this is true for ALL business types-like in the traditional sense of starting a 'physical' business, it's usually not until around year 3 that owners start to turn a profit.

3) Accepting that there IS still a whole world of stuff that i have no idea about, so instead of wondering when my first dollar will come, I try to focus on the training, and learning as much as i can to give myself a better shot at making all this work-once I have a more comprehensive understanding of it all.

These 3 were big ones for me. I'm just coming up on 6 months, and haven't seen a single dollar (or referral) yet. :-(

Every successful blogger I've asked, has said 'about a year' for a minimum you want to give it so I'm aiming at that minimum, just trying to write and post more content, build my foundations, and hopefully my authority with readers at the same time.

If I can just use this as a way to replace working for others, sometime in the next few years, I'll be over the moon.

I dunno if any of this helps sorry, but I do wish you well in getting over this hump brother.

Look at it this way, Matt! You are starting a business here in WA! Most businesses take time to generate money! My Locksmith business (in my 30th year now) took almost two years to generate first profits, and I had sunk around $25K in it the first year!

Keep on with the training, not skipping any steps, and build the website out as you go. Keeping it simple in the first stages of development is preferable because you don't have all the clutter!

I use GeneratePress for my themes!

If you're stuck on a post idea, simply start writing whatever comes to mind--whether it makes sense or not--and before you know it you will have gotten into the groove of writing!

Finally, remember that what you are doing here is a Marathon, not a sprint! You must erect a firm foundation first! This will be the least costly (in terms of money) of any business that you will ever start!

Best success!

Jeff

Hi Matt,
I too often run out of content ideas. I just read a post by, leoemery where he has left a couple of links. I will be checking them out and they may be helpful to you also.
Not sure which theme you are using but the favorite is the Generate press themes. I also like the Astra themes.

Best wishes,

Michael

Take a deep breathe. Patience is so hard when things go slow.
You are doing the right thing by expressing your struggles. WA is a big, helpful community so they want to help.

You do have a passion for your niche. right?
Here are some things you can do to get ideas for writing more posts.

Use Google search type your keyword and see what phrases are auto populated.
Scroll down under your search and Look at the "People Alsp Ask" section.
Check Jaaxy keyword tool and Jaaxy Alphabest soup.
Use ahrefs.com / keyword-generator (its free no need to sign up for 7 day trail.) In the middle section there is a questions tab.
Look at some competing websites to get a new inspiration (of course don't copy but be free to think of new ideas)
Look for some related products for you keywords. Are there some that would solve your niche problems? Helping others with product reviews gives a useful feeling.

The WA training works. If you have doubts search on "success stories"

Use the menu search (magnifying glass) in WA to find blogs on areas that you are struggling with.

Hope some of these suggestions help you.

We know you can do this. We all have had struggles at different points and that is when we have to make a resolve to keep going and make it work .

Personally I would not recommend trying some other programs like "drop shipping" because you think it is the next best thing. There are many challenges related to it. Make a go of your affiliate marketing niche website. "chasing after the next best thing" does not bring success.

Very well said George

Thank you very much for your reply, and yes I do have a passion for my niche. Thank you for your suggestions, and I will give them a try, I agree that I dont want to be jumping around and still want to keep working at this. I think im just a little frustrated, but I appreciate your feedback and insight.

Thank you.

You are welcome.
Please ask when you need help.

You're preaching to the choir - everyone goes through this and I mean everyone. You mentioned dropshipping you really want to avoid that. That's not a great option especially with all the shipping problems due to Covid. And even then dropshipping is a bad business model.

Way to many moving parts, and many things you have zero control over.

And yes, sometimes just walking away for a day or two is a good thing. Clear your head. Personally, when I am nowhere near my computer is when I get my best content ideas.

Depending what niche your in, you can look for inspiration from magazines that are niche related. You can go to https://soovle.com/ and use that to generate content ideas. Just type in a key phrase – so for example you could type in Digital Marketing and you’ll get a ton of ideas.

And with those results you can take a search term and place that into the search and get even more content ideas. Another great resource for content ideas is https://answersocrates.com. Again, type in a key phrase and you’ll get a ton of content ideas.

Hope that helps. Also know what you’re feeling will happen again it’s all part of being an online entrepreneur. It’s knowing what to do when it happens that will drive you towards your goals.

Leo

Thank you very much for your reply. Its refreshing to hear that everyone goes through this and I'll take a look at those sites for some more ideas.
