Okay, I just want to blow off some steam! I kind of get a little upset when I take my time to go to the give and take website comments sections, spend my time looking at their posts, and putting in thoughtful and relevant comments, only to NOT have comments returned to me. I think we should have a page where we can report these members, that just don't seem to care.

Of course then there are the ones, got two today, that leave ONE sentence, and they clearly did not read your post or take time to comment appropriately. I always read the post, and then comment accordingly. It is the right thing to do. I think about 60% leave a comment back, and then half of those are not even worth posting.

I have discovered the edit key! I can edit their comment and make it look more like a representative comment, but I shouldn't have to do that, right? Maybe I will make my own little "blacklist" of people who just don't care enough to return the favor, or do it half-heartedly. GRRRRR!

Also, I take the time everyday, or almost everyday to go thru and give everyone +1s for their new posts. Is it that much to ask for it to be given in return? Am I being harsh?

Anyway, short blog, but had to vent. Yesterday, was a really bad day for people returning comments, and then returning ones that have to be edited. Along with the dang Dallas Cowboys sucking so bad. Time for a new team!

I know you left me a good comment. I thought I commented on your site to. I don't remembered. If I haven't it's not intentional. I haven't been doing this long so I'm on a learning curve. I do apologize if it may have been me.

I agree and understand your frustration. I always leave a comment and return the favour back some times I don't do it right away. It's hard to fit in working full time taking care of family and home and also trying find time to work on my online business. I use my breaks and try to find time during business hours (it's good that i have the type of job that allows it) to read emails, comment on posts and work on my website. There is just not enough time in the day I wish there was but I do read the entire posts before I leave a comment. Right now I just got out of the shower getting ready for work and I'm taking the time to read and comment on your post.

I'm not much of a football fan sorry. Hope you have a better day.

Don't think it was me, at least I hope not...if so, it wasn't intentional. After only two months, I'm still getting my feet wet. You might check the DRBs to see how long they have been around. Hope you get better results. Best wishes,

Joe

So far I guess I've been lucky, because I get really good comments. And I know I give consideration, time and effort to every comment I leave. So, it can be done and should be done.

Totally agree!

I agree! I had the same thing yesterday! I don't know if I should bother leaving a similar 1 line comment on their post, tell them their comment is not sufficient and not leave a comment on their post or just delete their comment and move on!

Yep, I feel like if I do that, then I am just doing what I tell my kids not to do.....two wrongs don't make a right. So, I have to spend additional time editing the comments to make them usable :/

I don't feel comfortable editing comments to add content. I just can't do it. So, my options are accept it or delete it...

i understand ur frustration I'd feel the same way too.

I do believe you can reject the comment and it would reflect negatively on that person. I've done it 4 times. I get an email from WA alerting me to the comment and I click the link in it then it gives me the option on this site to either approve and reply or reject it with an explanation as to why I'm rejecting it.

And when I'm leaving comments, it will notify me if my comment is not long enough. It won't allow people to leave short comments.

And yes, I've gotten my share of questionable comments but it's just what happens when people are in a rush to get their own site comments. The one's I hate are the ones that generalized like they could be cut and pasted on any site which I think that is what they are doing. But I take it with a grain of salt and reject it for that reason.

Very true but that doesn't work for the give and take website comments section. There are two people that I won't ever comment for again. I take the time to read their post, and then I leave, what I feel is good pertinent comments, and then these two people.....EVERY TIME... reject my comments. And I know for a fact that my comments are relevant, articulate, pertinent ...yet they reject them every time. It flabbergasts me, because I take the time to look at the post and comment properly. I won't comment on a post that I don't feel I can leave the proper comment for, one that is nothing I can really comment on such as content that I know nothing about...LOL

I know, I'm the same way. I'm soo picky when it comes to choosing a site to comment on because it isn't right to just leave a bland comment that ads no value.

I've been rejected one time because the person misread my comment but what can I do? Some people just don't have it. I wouldn't let it bother you. I received your comment on my site and I thought it was great.

Hi Many thanks for all your comments on my sites, you are 10 points. Always I reply all the comments I received. Again MANY THANKS!!

You are VERY welcome!

Currently, I hold 100% for my comments/feedback. The other day when Kyle had asked the membership to comment on 2 things we would like to see and this was one of them. I think it started something because now EVERYBODY is going off on this. The comments are a little pass you by and no real relationships are built but the Feedback is my beef. Everyone I have given Feedback to have gone out of their way and created a relationship with where they will ask for my opinions, ask advice and I try to oblige where my skills and experience allow me to. They also comment on how different my reviews are to everyone else. I think the smallest review I have done is about 1300 words and I had one over 2000. In my opinion, quality is more important than quantity but I like to offer suggestions, make tools and supports available to them to help advance or correct what is needed on their site. I do feel your pain in the comments though. Google gives more credit to conversation and engagement within comments, so I always try to end it in a question priming for a reply. I have not once seen a reply given or taken past the initial comment. I then asked Kyle and other Ambassadors, as I was getting many requests in form of a PM, so I asked should we do these or send them to SiteComment/Feedback. I actually got mixed answers back. So I made a comment back when this happened that we should have a message board, where people would have ratings displayed on the quality of their comments/reviews and you could choose who you wanted. As well your credit was held in escrow and you had the ability to approve or deny the work and the ability to receive your credit back if the criteria were not met, and then a ding would go to that person's profile. When Kyle was seeking ideas again I posted it again and I got a comment that seemed like this is going to change, especially after the storm of similar comments that followed mine. So hold strong Mattysmum, I do believe a change is coming and sooner than we think. In the meantime, if there's anything I can do to help your cause, please shoot me a PM and we will gladly get you sorted out. Great rant btw :-)

Thanks and boy do I agree. I always take time to thoughtfully comment and ask questions to engage the site owner. So frustrating...I am looking forward to the changes you mentioned!

I hope that this is one of the first to be implemented!

I am having to edit mine a lot. They are just hurrying and getting their comment credits and then sending theirs for comments. I always go through the site I am commenting thoroughly and then give positive comments.

Yep, I do too. And I take the time to comment something that will help them with Google, provide comments as if I was actually looking on the web, interested in what they have to say and engaging them on their post. So sad, so many don't care about others comments. I got one today that literally said, "wow how great"......that was it????? Horrible and then they get credit for that?
