My Facebook PPC adventure...
I've burnt through about $150 now, but I'm starting to think it's gonna be worth it after I narrow things down a bit more.
Basically, at first you need some likes/comments on your facebook page (after you put up some posts). So you have to run an ad to get that done....and after you have 30 likes on your page, FB will show you the exact demographics of the people who are "liking" your page/posts.
You can add an aweber app to your page, and FB gives you the option to run an ad straight to the aweber app portion of your page...but the ad just basically asks people to "like" it, not really click on the ad to get more info.....
So my next tweak is to send people straight to the aweber opt in form on my page....in the type of ad that doesn't just ask for a "like". (I think I can do this just not 100% sure yet)
I can tell people are only "liking" my ad and not actually clicking on the part that would take them to my page with the opt in form because aweber shows alot less unique displays for my opt in form than the amount of clicks FB is charging me for.

Kyle once said you might as well burn your money before you use them. leave now while you still can! Kidding, but I wish you the best of luck with that. Just be sure and read about your target audience, demographics, and how things transpire on Facebook relative to your advertisement very closely.
It is like walking down the street, chatting with your friend about how you are frustrated that the clocks just moved back and then someone pops out of the busy trying to sell you a fake rolex.
It can work, don't get me wrong, but it is not the same as the people that go to Google or bing looking for something and you provide them with the answer/solution.
Now that people LIKE your page, you have to pay to connect with them. Facebook has you coming and going. To be successful using FB ads, you have to be hyper targeted and I do recommend sending people to an external page (versus trying to get them to like your page) as anything you post on your personal wall will only get to 10-12% of your likes (because of the EdgeRank algorithm at FB).
yeah now that I have some social interaction on my FB page I'm going for the optins now, heck with promoting posts...even if it's good content ppl are in FB mode and don't wanna leave the site...

things are going ok, I just keep shooting myself in the foot...I am actually getting a 25% opt in rate for my squeeze page...the problem was that only 25% of those that opted in were actually confirming their subscription (aweber requires it)...so...I realized that I was sending them to a dead link after the entered their email...instead of this page, which I now have corrected, so I will let you know if confirmation rates improve: http://www.thecopycatclub.com/fe/34960-optin_redirect
It happens Matt. Great to hear about your results, keeping your campaigns tightly relevant is very good and hyper targeting certain geographics and demographics is the only way to go within FB.
