Protecting my photography
How do I protect my original photography from theft? It's educational rather than artistic or professional-looking, I don't really mind if other people use it, as long as I get credit and Google recognizes it as my original content. I've heard of watermarking, but I don't want to mess up the image on my site. Suggestions?

How do I put a watermark on? Is this done in WordPress? Or do I have to take out the existing photo, go back and watermark the original in my hard drive's library, and use the watermarked photo on the website?
Yes I'm afraid I do mine through photosho p and ten place in WordPress. Unless there is a plugin in that does it???????
Thanks for the help, everyone. I'm gonna bite the bullet, and add watermarks. .I think I can actually do it in Microsoft;s Paint program--about as cheap as you can get!.

Hi folks, I too am trying to find a way to protect my pics online. I do like watermarking, because it is fairly easy to do (I think, lol) and a watermark right smack in the middle renders the pic practically unusable to the thief. One thing I do not like, is that the watermark right smack in the middle kind of "ruins" the pic altogether. However, if you place the watermark discretely at the bottom, someone could easily download your pic and just crop it to lose your watermark. Agree? Or, am I missing your point?
Yes, I agree if you place the watermark in a discreet corner, you are more easily ripped off. I would post loud warnings about your pics being yours, original, and NOT for copying and reuse by others.
Thanks for your comment, TheOldSilly. I have watermarked the pictures that I will use on my website, the watermark is right there in the middle. Following you! :-)
