Procrastination

The dictionary describes procrastination as “to delay doing something until later, usually something that you do not want to do”.

I am sure there are a lot of us that can relate to the above definition. It is not a problem unless you find yourself doing this much more than you should or it is something you keep putting off that you want to do and not sure why. I have found myself guilty of this time defeating lack of action more this year than normal.

I have been doing a little reading on procrastination and found out that everyone one does this. What a relief to know I am not the only one. However, it seems about 20 percent of people chronically avoid difficult tasks and go looking for distractions. It seems that procrastination reflects our perennial struggle with self-control and our inability to accurately predict how we’ll feel tomorrow. I can agree with the self-control part but who can predict how they will feel tomorrow? I just take it for granted that I’m going to be ok tomorrow. It seems kind of useless to worry about tomorrow. All we really have is today. Tomorrow is by the grace of God.

One of my favorite people to listen to is Anthony (Tony) Robbins. He teaches people how to be successful. I have included a link to his video with Frank Kern. I believe you will find it helpful. I certainly did.

Great post - I always remember my school English lesson where one of the sayings we learned is: procrastination is the thief of time. I still believe to this day that this is a fairly accurate definition
