Two things for Kai
Hey Folks,
Linda and I are debating a couple of things that might actually really be helpful for Kai and Carson's family. Thought I'd put it out and see if we can start a viral thing possibly.
As we know right now Kai, a nine month old baby, is going through Chemo Therapy and possible other extremely tortuous treatment for Leukemia. It occurred to us that regardless of out come their will possibly be years of follow up treatment not to mention possible serious side effects from the sheer stress to the little body and mind. So two things to consider.
- Bone Marrow Transplants and volunteer donations. Linda and I are both blood type A. I am A negative and I believe Linda is A Positive. I don't know what blood type Kai is but either way blood and bone marrow donations is an important option for treatment of Leukemia and other blood disorders. It is also a more or less forgotten donation thing due to other more well known illnesses and treatments. So I'm putting it out on the blog to get some attention to this matter. Let me know if we can get some "WA Family" serious organization to this.
- Linda and I thought also about doing a song recording for Kai and family and then thought hey...with possible years of follow up treatment and other medical needs even with insurance and "wealth" this could become a financial nightmare for Carson's family whether their is a lot or a little follow needed. We all know how the economy is these days so why leave it to chance? Ergo, since I know their are a lot of folks in WA that have WAY MORE EXPERIENCE than I do in how to properly set up a fundraiser of some kind, I would like feedback and hopefully direct participation in creating something that could go viral (We Are the World etc.) song wise to create a permanent income stream for Kai's follow up treatment. In fact if there is someone better suited to manage something on this scale I'd be more than happy to pass that torch to them. This ain't about me. Okay?
Now don't misunderstand...we haven't even set any music to lyrics yet, but if we do come up with something that would generate a massive appeal, we want to be ready to get it going on the spot, so we really needs some thoughtful insights on this second one. It's a huge idea and Linda and I are no different than a lot of you all...we still have to punch a clock to earn our daily bread...so it's not like I can just pick up the phone and call Sony Music or anything like that.
I don't mean to sound rude here, but this is not the kind of blog that needs a lot of "Atta Boy Marty" stuff. If you know how to do these things, then please reply, if you don't want to be involved I understand, no sweat. Just want to keep the focus on what might actually do some good here.
Also, Carson if I'm over stepping my boundaries here let me know and I will remove this blog immediately and not bother you and your family during this period of your family's life. Just thought I'd put it out there if it can be helpful to your family.
Anyway, I hope I'm not being too aggressive here with all this. And if I've unintentionally offended please tell me and I'll pull this off the post a.s.a.p.

Marty and Linda that's very compassionate of you. Remember Carson lives in Canada so all medical bills will be covered. Sure he will have to take a lot of time away from WA but my bet is Kyle will have him covered. You might PM Kyle about this and see what he thinks first.
Most important is his son gets well as we all know. Glyn.
Yes I do understand about Canadian Health Care, but sometimes folks up there have to actually come to the States for specific treatments or to a specific location in the States for a treatment. Maybe I'm just paranoid about Health Care from working in the field all year, but thought why take anything for granted in this situation.
Yes you are right that sometimes does happen and the treatment may not be fully covered by the Canadian plan. I didn't think of that. Anyway I appreciate your compassion and you have shown us again what a great caring community we are at WA. Glyn.

Don't be afraid to jump in on this. Sounds like you already know the ropes a bit. I don't so don't wait on me. Like others I've got a full plate and may not be able to pull it off. Just wanted to get the word out. Guess it depends on how this kind of thing is done.

I am not an expert on this, but maybe I can give you a contact or two on fund raising. One thing, that I got to know, is that you will want to run a campaign of some sort for the fund raising.
I guess before running the campaign, we will want to hear from Carson. From where I am looking at this, we will need them to get involve no matter how we want to get this done. I mean, we can't just go convince the public without them getting on board, can we?
