The Sleeping Lion Awakes From Slumber
The Lion Sleeps
The lion in the cover image represents me, or a fairly good comparison of my first six months here at Wealthy Affiliate. A lot of good intentions, dreams and a profound belief that by simply becoming a WA member and upgrading to Premium membership would automatically transform me into a successful online entrepreneur overnight.
How WRONG could I be, a lack of application, or to put it more bluntly laziness was the story of my first half year. Needless to say articles were taking for ever to write and quality was not anywhere near that of what we are taught here at WA.
I am guilty of being easily distracted, sport, social media, games, the list is endless.
In short, I was guilty of not treating the WA platform as a proper job, and creating the correct mind-set of running an online business.
The Lion Awakes From His Slumbers
After a lengthy period of frustration, and soul-searching I knew something had to change, but was not sure how to break the cycle. At this point I decided to reach out to some of our more experienced WA members for help.
This is the point when I can honestly say things started to take a turn for the better. I was offered some simple, but clear advice on the direction I should take. Nothing to drastic, or out of keeping with the WA framework and learning platform. Plus some subtle mentoring and instilling of belief and confidence that everybody has a chance to succeed here at WA if we apply ourselves diligently, consistently and are willing to put in the hard work required to create a successful online business.
The Lion Bares His Teeth
Fast forward to today, less than two months since I reached out for help. Yesterday my new website was indexed by Google. This in itself is amazing, as believe it or not my previous two websites never managed to get indexed. Today I posted my first blog post of more than 1000 words, something that I have always struggled to achieve and if I'm honest it was fairly effortless. As of today I am definitely aiming for three blog posts a week, which I now feel is extremely achievable. There has been a massive shift in my mindset recently and my momentum has shifted drastically. I am now responsible for my actions and have become fully focused on building my online business.Shout Out and Big Thank you to WA!
At this point I want to thank everybody who has supported me on my journey thus far, including all Wealthy Affiliate newbies (like myself) intermediates, and advanced/ambassador members, Kyle, and Carson and not forgetting Jay.
I would like to extend a special thank you to a couple of more experienced members have who have been particularly supportive and helpful. In true WA spirit I will not name these people, but I'm sure they know who they are.
The pendulum has swung and my momentum is in currently in full swing. I just need to keep focused, pushing forward, and believing in myself. Continue with the education journey and learning something new every day. One thing I have learned't is that our industry is growing steadily every day and the competition is also increasing by the day. So like the example that is set by Kyle, and Carson we need to constantly strive to improve ourselves and keep ahead of the game.
I can promise you hand on heart that this LION will not be falling asleep again, any time soon!

Wow Martin, what a very honest appraisal of your time here!
The thing is that I am sure when we first arrive here, we all underestimate WA, I know I did. Then the notifcations start arriving and get more and you start reading, them realising that you do have a proper S/Employed Project on your hands
That in itself changes mindsets, almost by default
When the training is applied as you are now realising, then the fruits are awesome. Constructing your blog properly, while time consuming, because it 'never looks right' or I 'should have added that there' in the long term saves time
Why?... Because when pitched or how ever people try to recruit or want answers to questions, as long as your blog covers that aspect, you send them a link to a post or page and they 'get exposed' to a REAL business Owner and Not JUST an Affiliate
Huge difference between the two now
In your case its a LION with a BIG roar
In fact talking of LION, why not adjust your Linkedin Profile to show WA, You'll be amazed at what happens when you do that
Longwinded answer, but well done!
Thanks Dave, for your your response and continued support.
I am definetly not getting to far ahead of myself, and fully understand I am a work in progress.
LinkedIn profile adjustment sounds interesting, will give it a shot.
It works well, since adjusting my profile there to reflect WA and SLIGHTLY tweaking it, I am getting an average of 20 people per day asking to join my network, which is up from what it was
20 x7 x30 = over 4,000 ASKING to join my network monthly
Great post Martin, you said it like it is, we are probably all guilty of procrastination. I was for the last 3 weeks trying to write a post for my training. I was focused on a series of posts and could not get past the idea of having to interrupt myself. Thankfully I got it done about 1.30am this morning.
Now I am able to go back to my training.phew!
i am following you and hope you will return the favour.
Wishing you everything of the best on your journey
Thanks Sheryl for your kind words and for adding me to your network. I have started following you too...
I always remember Kyle telling us that you don't have to be a talented writer, or expert in English grammar. The more we write from the heart the better we connect with our target audience, and BINGO!
Best of luck on your journey, and don't be afraid to sing out if you need any help.
Well done for sticking with the post, must have been a huge relief.
I'm sure you slept well..

Difficult times can attempt to defeat us all. The help we get here in WA is beyond anything found elsewhere.
