Milestone Year: 2019 was better than I could have imagined!
Well, another year has finished and we're on to 2020! Time for me to look back at my 2019 results.
Wrapping it up, 2019 went above and beyond what I had expected for my blog. WAY beyond... way, way, way beyond. You get the point. My results shocked and astounded me (and my hubby).
My money-maker (product reviews) blog is now 26 months old and has only 44 posts to date (No, I don't do this full time. I'm a Stay At Home Mom). Last year it made me about $21,000 USD. That's up from $4800 USD the year before. And to be honest, this past year I reallly slowed down in intensity. As in, I was only able to add 12 new posts. Yes, big, intense, high quality posts, but just 12.
It goes to show me (and you all, as I share this with you) that those first 6-12 months of crazy hard work really matter. That work you put into it then, early on, those grind-it-out months when you are just trusting the system and writing, writing, writing... while barely earning a penny... that those days CAN end up becoming profitable later on.
[While I'm thrilled with the results for this year, I did have a big set-back... the Google Core Update of November 2019, where my site rankings dropped by more than 60%. I wonder what my results would have been for the end of November (including Black Friday) and for December if that hadn't happened. And I'm curious what effect it'll have on my stats and earnings in 2020... We'll see, I guess.]
So, WA peeps, trust the system. Write, and write some more. Reassess what's working and what's not. Tweak stuff. Restart if you need to. Just keep going. Don't give up. And all that jazz. When it works, you'll be pretty pleased you kept at it... even when you didn't think it'd ever get there. I'm proof.

I'm curious about what your average post length is? I've been doing research to confirm the number of posts you need to bring in good traffic.
Obviously, this is very dependant on your niche. But I've noticed high ranking blogs with a good amount of affiliate revenue in the MMO niche usually have 100's of posts on them because it's competitive.
So, I'm intrigued that you made $21K with just 44 posts. Any numbers and niche insights will help me with my research. Whatever info you don't mind sharing with me and us :)

Hi Kim,
My average post is between 4-6000 words. I mainly do "best of" posts reviewing products. It's not a MMO niche in any sense...
