30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!

Day 20

Up Close and Personal - Too Close?

G'day folks of Wealthy Affiliate and welcome to Day 20 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge. Yes..it has been 20 days of writing a post once a day..and it feels so good getting this far!

Today is not so much a topic or lesson to learn... but more a way of life.

I have mentioned in my previous posts the importance of our readers getting to know us, getting to like us and getting to trust us because until they do..the probability is they won't buy from us.

The most effective way to grow this trust is to let them get a glimpse at who we are.

This is an aspect of marketing and engagement that some marketers find very hard to do...because it involves allowing our readers into our private lives.

Some of us may feel that it'ill mean we have to share every aspect of our personal life and what we do each day? But of course it doesn't!

How much we actually share is completely up to the individual and the last thing we ever want to do is distract a subscriber with too much “life detail”.

Instead, we need to share a little here and there when it makes sense to do so.

Especially over the last 5 years or so...the strategy of storytelling has become the marketing "in thing" to do.

But of course story telling has been around since humans began...it is how we learn from one generation to the next.

It is good practice to share our content in the form of stories while injecting a bit of ourselves into them..sharing our own insights and life experiences.

I suggest that we shouldn't be afraid to get personal, as long as we are careful with what we are sharing and that it makes sense and enhances the message that we are writing about.

What ever you do, (and I see this a lot) don't share just for the sake of sharing as this can have the opposite affect on our readers...and turn them away.

Connecting with our subscribers on a deeper level by sharing something personal they can relate to can benefit our businesses on many fronts. Apart from developing a deeper trust which in turn will make them more likely to purchase from us...they are also more likely to reach out and get in touch with us to share their own experiences.

I am a strong believer in the possibilities brought about by interaction with one another. To truly interact requires us to lower our own defensive walls which can be very hard for a lot of people because these same walls are often erected in the first place to keep people out.

The thing is, we'll never know who we'll meet, what we'll learn and what doors may open for us if we don't open up to let the opportunities into our lives.

I would just like to end today's post by saying, try to always be personable, not only in your business but also in your life in general, be brave and make those connections and see where the road takes you.

After all, I have met you and who knows what great opportunities may come from our friendship!

Tomorrow I'll be asking you a question...the answer to which has the power to make or break your business..you don't want to miss it!

I will leave you with my thought of the day...

Think about this....Dr. Seuss is so very wise!

Love me some Dr Seus, I do!

Hi Kathy, but the question is Do you like
Green eggs and ham :) Thanks for leaving a comment. Have a great weekend.

This is a great post, I am a very sharing person, sometimes I worry I share to much.

Hi Krystye, thanks for stopping by and for leaving such a nice comment. Yes for sure, it can be a fine line sometimes. Have a great weekend.

Thanks. Dr. Seuss was, is, and will always be wisdom in print. Great series. Jay

Thanks Jay, I'm with you on that one. Genius

Yes, everyone loves a story. I remember when i had to speak somewhere and the experienced speaker saw i was nervous. He said just tell it as a story, so I did and so many came and spoke after. Even weeks, months, years after I received emails from them.

Yes, we all love a good story..and each of us have our very own stories to tell. As for your talk, which obviously took courage...I think you need to get these returning visitors onto your new subscribers list :)

ahh but that was to do with sharing about the work in the Solomon Islands broadly. My website is only about teaching. Have to think about that one. I did wonder if i would be better off with a Island niche and not one as technical as teaching.

Why not pencil in both. If not now...put it on the back burner for later.

I was just thinking about this idea today. Being real, having/ displaying a sense of humor, etc. Good post. Thank you!

Hi Bob, glad you enjoyed the post. Yep, if there was a little more authenticity in this world I think it would be an all round better place to be. Thanks for stopping by.

Great Post. I am a very personable person and I do share my personal life a lot. I feel if I'm going to be trusted with my customers I should be a glass window. I have nothing to hide and if something is real personal I just don't share it. I am going to follow you as I want to see what you have to say between now and day 30.

Hi Shelley, glad you liked the post. That's quite a bio you have, I can understand how it's shaped you into the transparent and personable individual you are today. I am delighted to have you on board for the remainder of my challenge and I look forward to your feedback. Hope you are enjoying your day so far. All the best, Anthony

I am so glad I am following you. I love your posts.

Appreciate that Mike, thanks a lot :)

Love this cause it is so true, where there is no trust there are no possibilities to grow not personally and certainly not in business so always stay true to yourself, great blog!

To our success Nadia :)

What great advice and very true. No one buys from those who they cannot trust, not anymore. Transparency is key, but like you said, to a certain point. We are all relationship driven, some more than others. But in order to be heard, we must first listen as well.

Wishing you a great Friday!!

A very good Friday to you Elizabeth. Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment. So very true..the active listening is just as important as the talking part :) Hope you are having a great day so far.
