What Happened to PotPieGirl?

Please let me know if I'm out of line by asking about this. I don't want to cause any trouble, not after everything that's happened recently.

But I'm just curious about what has happened to PotPieGirl. Does anyone here remember her?

For those that don't know her, she used to be big here at WA, and I mean REALLY big. She even went to Vegas with Kyle and Carson back in 2010. I remember her excitedly writing about that to her mailing list which i was on at the time.

I did her One Week Marketing course way back then, and it was great. She was really active in WA back then.

But her last blog post at WA was back in January 2014, and her last post to her own website was March 2014. And yet she is still really active on her Twitter account, mainly blasting Aweber links promoting various internet marketing products.

So what happened? Did her mailing list get so big that all she needs to do now to make money is blast affiliate links to her list and Twitter?

Her WA profile says she is a "Help-a-holic". Looks like maybe she found a cure. Or perhaps her life just got too busy...

Sorry, not familiar with her. You might drop her a line via PM and see how she is doing.

I've heard of the name Potpiegirl but I don't really know anything about her except that she has achieved much success online.

If it is ok to ask, what's the deal with her?

She used to be really active on here and really helpful, and even had some of her own courses, but now she just seems to promote internet marketing products to her email list.

She has got so 'big' and has such a large list that she is obviously too busy to interact here on WA. But since her rank is 438 it shows that she is keeping her premium membership which makes sense since she gets double commission that way. I am still on her mailing list and she sends out emails practically every day promoting new tools she has found or new courses. Recently she said she'd bought a course, implemented the ideas, tweaked some and was having great results. So now she has written a bonus guide with the things she tweaked and with tips on how to get the most out of the course for all who buy through her link.

I'm still on her mailing list, too, although I'm going to unsubscribe because I get just too much stuff from her. I met her through Squidoo and she gave some really good advice on that writing platform. I'm so glad she's successful but there really is such a thing as "overkill" and I think she has hit that in spades. Pushy just doesn't do it for me.

I agree with you. I think I am on two of her mailing lists so I actually tend to get everything twice. She used to share good information and produced a great Squidoo guide. Now she just promotes and promotes still trying to give the impression that she is 'helping'. Guess reading your comment has made me think that it's time for me to unsubscribe too.

Thanks for the information internetgranny.

Yes, even Travis used to say that you need to include a lot of free helpful information in your list. You can't just keep blasting out endless affiliate links or people will just unsubscribe.

I think the idea with email marketing is to make the majority of your emails free helpful information. Then when you do send out an affiliate link, it will have more power because it will really mean something.

Yeah, unsubscribe. If you're not finding the emails helpful, you're just wasting your time. That time would be better spent on WA or working on your website.

She is on Pinterest, but I don't know how recent.

Have you tried contacting her directly, Marcus?
Maybe she's in need of help . . . or just a friend

Hello I am sorry I don't know her at all, I hope she is still in WA.

No I haven't. That's a good point.

HELLO
THANKS FOR THE REPLY

REGARDS

You've started an interesting discussion here Marcus. ~Marion

Yes, looks like I opened a can of worms!

Good way to start a discussion :)

I was wondering about that the past few months as well. I sent her an email explaining that she was the reason I joined Wealthy Affiliate and feel disappointed that all of her emails are now nothing but promotions for products... I have unsubscribed now and would like to change my referral so my money no longer goes to her. I'm grateful to her for helping me gain the courage to start my own website, but the route she has gone isn't for me and I don't want to support that.

Hi Martina,

FYI, you are unable to change referrals because that type of option would become a reason for people to game the commission system.

You have to remember every person travels his or her own path. We have no rights over that. We are lucky for the friendship the sharing and the caring people show in our lives. We are only responsible for our own thoughts deeds and actions. To take away a gift or purpose once given freely is unacceptable and an untrue thought or effort on you end. It is like I will do this for you or give you that only if you promise to do this forever. True life is not like that. ....... Best of Luck always.

I'm not taking back what I already given.. I just wish I had someone different now as a referral. I don't think I should have to be tied down to one person just as she doesn't have to be tied down to me. And I have the right to want to support whom I want to support. You have misunderstood me.

I am in a similar situation. I was referred by Travis (of Bum Marketing) and he no longer uses WA - no blogs, no website listed but his rank shows that he is still a premium member which means he gets the full referral commission - and he heavily promoted WA. Both he and Potpiegirl attribute their success to WA. So LET'S GO and do well but still stick around to help others.

Just noticed your comment...that's exactly my opinion, too. (See my comment above).

I suppose the best thing we can all take from this is to give some thought as to who we see our own future as internet marketers. Even if it's just to view PPG as an example of the route we don't want to take.

But to be fair, AceJoker, you did come here via PotPieGirl. It's the way it works really. Probably best to try to forget about it and just focus on making the best of your time here now that you are here.

Yes, I was going to mention Travis too. I followed his Bum Marketing Method back in 2008, and it was through his mailing list that I first heard about WA, but I don't think I subscribed via his link, not sure.

Travis has his Magic of Making Up product on Clickbank, which is an evergreen product that will just keep going. He probably earns loads from that anyway.

I heard about it before her, though. And I've already forgotten about it or else I would have left, now wouldn't I? It's just one of the downsides. Would you want to indirectly support a cause you were against? It's sort of like that. I don't like indirectly supporting someone I no longer agree with. But I do focus on doing my own thing.

I see what you mean, yes.

I came across her when I first began searching. I didn't buy though, I ended up coming across a review by Vince and signed up to WA through him.
I honestly don't remember which of her products it was.
Like you, I am not bashing her. I think it is great she has had success and I wish her well. I just went another route and am glad I did.

yes Angela its all down to our own choices, we make them and live by them and with them. Live and let live

yes, we do :)

It'as a choice all IMer's have to make to go for the mega money or to promote ethically. I remember Jennifer very well I proof read her first one week marketing course.

Wow, I see you go way back too. Do you think she is making more money than you now?

I don't know and to be truthful I don't care. I am not jealous of anyone's success because I have the ability to step my earning up or down as required. - as does everyone else here. We can all learn unlimited income if we want to

I still get promotional emails from her selling anything that'll make her a buck. I did buy 1 of the products she promoted a while back and asked her a question about it through a PM here at WA but she didn't respond.

She is now a promote-aholic as far as I can tell. I'm not bashing her. She's obviously become quite successful. She has worked her way up to the ranks of IM product producers who cross promote each other's stuff. Sometimes, not good stuff but that's the business.

Thank for the information Steve.

It must have been disheartening for her to see her One Week Marketing course die due to the changes at Squidoo. Also, she had a later course called Reverse Attack Marketing, which also seems like it might be a bit out of date now too.

It's a shame, because with her knowledge and experience she would be a real asset here at WA. She could promote WA through her list and Twitter, and spend time helping people here and doing training. But obviously there is more money to be made by blasting links to these joint venture products she promotes now.

I am sorry anytime you say something negative about a person you are bashing them. She is living her life on the level she choose as you do. End of story. I promote and support her strength and constant vigilance to follow her path in the face of today's adversaries and tough economy. ...... Best of Luck always

That's kind of "black and white" thinking. You don't have to agree with everything someone does to respect them and pointing out something you don't agree with is not bashing.

I thought it was worth asking the question, because it's interesting to think about the path that members take. I also think it's fair game to question a fellow internet marketer's tactics or approach to their business. If anyone considers it not appropriate discussion for WA, that's totally fair enough, and even if this topic gets deleted by Kyle or Carson I will understand (because it is about a long-standing member of WA, and they may take it personally). But putting that to one side, in general terms I think it's fine to criticize anyone's methods. It's what we do with product reviews, and it's what we should be doing with each other really. This is why I have started asking people here what they think of my videos and blog posts. It's only by getting feedback that we can improve. To judge that an internet marketer has taken a path that I wouldn't have taken, that's a fair judgement to make. Of course, if she's raking in the money and I'm not, maybe she's having the last laugh anyway. Who even cares what people think about you if you're rich.
