Please Give Me a Round of Applause
I have finally finished by big project of restructuring my website so I am more happy with it. This involved:
- Writing a new honest WA review - it's still overall positive, but it now includes some things that I am not happy with.
- Creating a series of 40 free lessons - these take people through the full process of getting started with affiliate marketing. The lessons are a collection of other people's videos. Some are links to WA videos that people can watch for free, and others are embedded YouTube videos. I'm not claiming they are mine, just providing information I have found and putting it all in a planned sequence that will help people.
- These pages are set not to be indexed by the search engines. See the next item on this list.
- New Aweber followup series - these are daily prompts for the lessons, along with breaks every few lessons to give people time to take action.
- New list signup prompts - one on the sidebar as well as an exit-intent popup. Do you see what I'm doing here? People need to sign up to my list to get the lessons. That's why I don't want the lessons appearing in Google.
- New "Start Here" page - instead of trying to sell people on WA, this gives them some free videos of some things they can do right now to start earning money (Fiverr and Textbroker), plus encouraging them to join my list if they want my lessons about affiliate marketing.
- New "About Marcus" page - just an honest account of my journey trying to make money online.
- New calls to action in most posts - this meant editing about 270 posts, but it didn't take long per post once I had some variations on the text I could copy and paste. But this was an important final stage in this project because it means my posts no longer send the reader towards my WA review. Instead, they send them to my "Start Here" page. This means that if in the future I decide to put something different on my "Start Here" page, I don't need to change the calls to action in all my posts. It gives me the freedom to go wherever I want with all this. I might not recommend WA at all in the future. I probably will, but it's nice to know I now have the freedom to follow whatever I think is best rather than just being tied to saying WA is the #1 all the time.
So, with that big project now all done, I can finally get back to a normal routine of writing new content, etc.
