Recommendations for Wealthy Affiliate Website and Community
Hey friends, fellow WA explorers, and the curious minds who might swing by here in the future —
I’m about to step away from Wealthy Affiliate for a little breather. I have outgrown WA and it has nothing left that would benefit me.
But before my account gracefully expires into the digital ether, I wanted to leave a little trail of recommendations — think of them as breadcrumbs for the WA team, and, well, a gentle nudge to maybe lure me back someday.
So here goes, with all the love and a sprinkle of that brutally honest affection:
1. Bring on the Dark Side
Please, WA, let us embrace the shadows! A dark mode across the entire site isn’t just a trendy feature; it’s a mercy to eyes that have stared at screens till they feel like fried eggs. That blinding white background? It’s basically an assault on my eyeballs. We want cosy nights, not retinal carnage.
2. Clean House, Seriously
Outdated content is like mouldy bread — nobody wants it, and it only makes the whole pantry smell bad. Both official and unofficial old posts, tutorials, or anything that’s gathered digital dust for years need a good sweep. If it’s rubbish, chuck it out. A lean, mean, up-to-date search result is a happy search result. If you insist to keep that stuff, an Archive for the curious history buffs, perhaps.
3. Spam Protection That Works (For Real This Time)
Spam’s like the uninvited party crasher who never takes a hint. Perhaps asking for credit card info even from free members isn’t such a bad idea — sure, it’s a bit old school, but it could keep the litter out and raise the quality of the crowd. Nobody wants to wade through spam swamp just to find a gem.
4. Follow-Only Content Feed — Yes, Please!
Sometimes, I just want to see updates from the people I actually follow, without having to scroll past a parade of noise from randoms whose content I really don’t care for (to put it mildly). And if blocking those unwanted posts or users is possible, sign me up. My feed shouldn’t feel like an endless popularity contest or a junk drawer.
5. Feed Filtering by Category — Because Variety Is the Spice of Life
Let me choose what categories I want to see front and centre in my main feed. I’m tired of the “popularity contest” syndrome deciding what I see. Give me the power to focus on what matters to me. It’s time for a feed diet — less junk food, more brain food.
6. Hosting & Support — Time for a Glow-Up
Let’s be honest, hosting quality and support have been a bit… well, underwhelming lately. When the backbone creaks, the whole body feels it. Better uptime, faster responses, stronger servers and support.
Oh, and one more thing that’s been bugging me — the whole plugin ban saga.
Look, I get it, servers have their limits and WA needs to keep things running smooth without turning into a lag-fest. Fine, I’m on board with that — efficiency matters. But here’s the kicker: where’s the transparency?
If certain plugins are off-limits, just put them on a clear, easy-to-find list. I don’t want to buy a shiny new plugin, get all excited, and then have WA slam the door in my face because “Sorry, that’s not allowed.” That’s like window-shopping for a fancy gadget only to find out the store won’t let you bring it home.
A simple “No-go Plugin List” would save everyone a lot of headaches, wasted time, and money — and maybe even build a little trust. After all, honesty is the best policy, even in plugin land.
I have moved nearly all my websites to another host and will do the rest as well. Wouldn't it be better if I could host my websites within WA?
7. The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing But the Truth on the Landing Page
2.8 million members? I wish. The reality is, WA has only a fraction of that, and including every single email ever registered — inactive accounts, fakes, scammers, bots — is like boasting about your gym membership while spending all day on the couch. It’s misleading, and honestly, it drags down the reputation of everyone involved. Let’s keep it honest and earn trust instead of stretch the truth.
There you have it for now — my current wishlist, penned with good intentions and a dash of cheek. I might add more as the thoughts bubble up before I leave, but these are the biggies.
Until next time, WA — keep evolving, keep improving, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll see me come back for round two.

I like seeing random content in my feed. How else could I stumble upon something great written by someone I'm not following currently?
If there's nothing else for you to learn here at wealthy Affiliate, I wish you well.
Personally, I think there is always something to learn, even from people who aren't as smart as you.
Perhaps. But why would I dish out $300 for that. I am paying for a service that benefits me, not for some random uncontrollable mess.
Thank you! :)

Andy & Lila, thanks for the honest feedback! I agree that a dark mode would be a great addition, and cleaning up outdated content is always a plus. Spam protection is definitely needed. Speaking of efficiency, if you ever need to convert your notes or articles from Markdown to Word, I recommend using this free online tool: https://mdtoword.org. It's super handy!
