Five Effective Ways to Keep a Positive Attitude When All Else Are Falling Apart

1. Never beat up yourself. Beating up oneself will not make it any better but will just surely make you feel more depressed and down. Too often when we think we give it our best and spent extra amount of time to accomplish something, yet the outcome does not match our desired results or expectation, the first thing we do is to beat up oneself. We tend to lose our self confidence and feel like we are not good enough failing to realize that life is not always full of rainbows and sunshine. Best thing to do is to reflect and evaluate what went wrong; shake off the dust i.e. the hurt feelings; and move on by doing the necessary corrections and adjustment to be attuned back to your goals.

2. Until the game is over, the game is still on. So long as we live, no matter how bad we did to our lives in the past we still have infinite chances ahead. The recent presidential election is the perfect example on how President elect Trump won the presidential race. ( I am not promoting any political party here, I am just driving a point.) He is very focused on his goals and continue to do what he needs to do to win the race despite what most political analyst were forecasting. Whatever challenge we encounter in life we should never give up and just focus on doing what we need to do even if the initial outcome is unfavorable. I remember my daughter's team playing Lacrosse. I always stress to her being the team captain not to lose hope and drive when in the first half of the game their team is not leading. It is when you accept defeat that will eventually lead to be defeated. So when times are not working if your favor never give up making scores as the game is not over until the game is over.

3.0 Rest if you must, but never quit. When times get tough the tough gets going but what happens when the tough cannot go on anymore? Rest, recoup and reflect. Taking the necessary break will boost your adrenalin again. Life is like taking an power nap. Studies show that taking power naps in the afternoon boosts efficiency. We need to take a break so we won't bend. Always remember there is always a light at the end of each tunnel, that is why you can just rest while in the tunnel but never stop while in there otherwise you won't reach the end and see the light.

4.0 Count your blessings. Gratefulness always brings a positive feeling. When we start to count our blessings we tend to forget what we don't have. The more grateful we are the more blessings will come our way. The less we focus on what is missing and the less negative we feel. We have to be thankful every day when we wake up that we are still alive. According to answers.com, out of seven billion world's population about 250,000 - 300,000 people die every day. We attract what we think, why choose otherwise when we also have the option to think positive.

5.0 Just one happy thought. Whenever you feel totally down, depressed and weary just command yourself stop. Then quickly think of one happy thought. It doesn't have to be big. It could be the first time you are able to ride a bicycle. Think how happy you were then. Quick happy thought diverts the brain to continue to think the bad stuff that is going that will lead to another thought of another bad experience and on and on. I suggest you make a list of those times that you truly feel happy and when you feel down, sad and lonely you have your list handy.
