Blog v Page rank question
Something I noticed that could be a coincidence but would welcome comments. Couple of weeks back I had a website page ranking on P1 Google for a particular keyword. I wrote a blog post around that same keyword, now the blog ranks on P1 but the page has dropped off P1 and is now way down the rankings. Any comments appreciated.

You're in effect competing with yourself. Every page and post on your website should use a different but relevant keyword. You should only use the same keyword on a different site, ie. an article on Street Articles that you intend to point to a relevant page or post on your site. There is some historical research that all things being equal, a page will rank better than a post. However, a site full of pages will not prove user friendly to your visitors. I believe that it's less important to worry about search engines than the *engagement and *experience* you give your customers. Search engines don't buy anything, people do. :) Rich.
Thank you - That explains it. Will go back and re-write the blog post
Sorry - another question - is it ok to link from a blog post to a (relevant) page on the same website or is that a bad idea also
Internal linking is "highly beneficial". :) https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wa-affiliate-bootcamp-content-keywords-and-conversions/building-more-content-through-internal-links Rich.
Not to confuse matters, but just as an added thought - "competing" with yourself can actually be beneficial, as you could hold 2 positions on page 1 for the same keyword and gain traffic to both pages. Works best when using 2 separate sites though.
