From Zero to Nine

You are looking at the number of visits I got on my website.

I'm Estatic!

But it's in the single digits? Some of you may ask.

It's not much but a start. I have worked on my website for a month. Tweaking it and writing post after post. All the while checking analytics to see if there were any interests. Only to see zero. I was disheartened many times. Only the constant reminders from my WA community-it will take a little time-has helped me push on.

This first month has been a series of discoveries.

First, the cliché that "No Man is an Island" definitely applies at Wealthy Affiliates. After putting in at least twenty hours of work per week to create a decent website, I would have given up. But the barrage of emails and instant support I received from this community prevented me from doing so.

Second, its addicting. I walked and slept "momforpolitics.com" . Constantly thinking of ways to improve the website, of blogs to write, etc. I even slept with a notepad on my bedside table - yes folks its that bad-.

Third, never underestimate the power of Social Media. After reading a blog post from Gina (dsglthompson) about her success with Google plus, I decided to activate my account. Lo and behold, traffic started coming in. Google plus also helped me discover websites and communities similar to mine. So I started commenting on some articles.

I know that there's more work to be done. And yes it takes time. But more than ever, I believe in Wealthy Affiliates. Their willingness to help has carried me in my first few weeks. Yes, I'm thinking of you Tony Hamilton, Rae Ann Pond, Marion Black and PJ Germain. You too Boomer.

To this wonderful community, I say Thank You

Great job, sounds like you're well on your way to success!

Thank you, Jon. Working on my site one visit at a time. At least a new visitor will teach me which promo technique worked.

Your success gives me hope :) Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Pam! I knew coming in there will be some hard work involved. I just didn't realize how much! But being busy at something I like to do is good. I wish you luck as well. With your background, I'm very sure you've already done well here at WA!

Looks like we have similar background with/exposure to Communications ;) Thanks Cecile, I guess I've my finger in too many pies at the moment.

On a related note (regarding your blog post), I've created filters on Google Analytics to prevent myself from being recorded as a visitor. But since I take my work wherever I go (wherever there's wifi), I think my stats ain't accurate at all, since I forget to filter those public places' IP addresses too. D'oh!

I think I have but a scant idea of my traffic. Do you think I should pay closer attention, or just focus on producing content for now?

Hi Pam,
Based on my scant experience, you should focus on content. A great content will draw traffic as long you follow what we have learned in regards to using keywords. Since I have a blogging website (And its on politics, which is a very competitive niche)my goal is to publish at least three a week. The rest I will spend on marketing them. It will still be helpful to check on google analytics though for any traffic. Its a great tool to determine who your audience is and which part of your website they're landing, exiting and spending time on. Knowing this will help you improve the pages, or develop the content that's generating interest. I found a really helpful reference guide just today in regards to understanding Analytics. I'm not sure if you need it since your blogs seem to demonstrate a better understanding of ecommerce than me, but here it is anyway just in case. http://youronlinepathtowealth.com/the-best-google-analytics-dashboards-7-insights-into-behavior-flow#comment-89. The blogger, Ruth (Ruthchicago) is also with Wealthy Affilliate and has an Affiliate Marketing background. So she'll be a great person to have in your network. If she isn't already.
Hope this helps Pam! Let me know if you need any other clarification. I would be more than happy to help or at least point you to someone who can.

I am happy you are optimistic and beginning to see your work gaining attention from some people.

Thank you, Jack for the kind words. I am remaining optimistic and appreciate every sign of progress. Even one or two new visits mean I've done something right in promoting the site. Also Welcome to WA! With your SEO experience and the kind of support you will get in this community, you will do great. Be sure to create trainings on SEO. I will keep an eye out for it!
