Working Hard.or Hardly Working?

I began my WA journey a little more than a month ago, and while I'd hoped to move through the process at a faster pace, I also attend college and have two boys under the age of 3.

I'm really excited about all of the progress I've made thus far and all the potential I know is ahead but I have started to feel like I'm either missing something or everyone else is way better at this than I'd hoped I would be.

I'm following the process to a T for two specific reasons: first, to test the process and ease of going through start to finish as I intend to become a WA affiliate as well, and second, because one of my future niches is about processes and this has been an incredible learning experience and testament toward my subject.

At this point, I'm supposed to submit my site for feedback. At this point, my site isn't worthy of feedback. It's barebones still with only one "post".

Am I the only one who feels like this? Anyone else out there feeling behind and on track at the same time?

I have lots of work to do before I hit the submit button on requesting feedback for my site but that work has proven harder than I'd hoped.

Here's to you and your progress as you work through the process. I'm all about processes and I have loved working through the WA process...even if it has taken me a little longer than I'd expected due to my own time constraints.

Happy Friday to you wherever you are.

Kindly,

Lindsey Parkinson

Keep at it Lindsey! I'm like you this has been an incredibly positive learning experience!

I had the same concerns as I followed along the biggest of which was submit for comments with no graphics???

I believe the point of the exercise is to introduce the feature and get you some comfort level in using it.

It’s the same as you go through the rest of the steps...it seems creating more and more posts is of utmost importance and I agree content is king as long as it’s relevant.

Go ahead and submit for review..sure the biggest comment will be you need images but you might be surprised at the suggestions you receive. If you want you can ask for more specific feedback such as on content or layout instead of general.

Everyone experiences that feeling at one time or another. Always remember that this is an education - you are learning new things and that doesn't always happen according to the calendar. One of the best things about WA is that it is self-paced - you move to the next step when you are ready, not because some bell has rung someplace. When you feel like you really know the material, you move forward. If you feel like you're not sure, you can always go back and study again. When you have questions, you have a whole community here to help you through. It's an ideal learning situation. No clock is ticking down anywhere. You'll finish your posts when you're ready.

I would submit your site for feedback. You'd be surprised at how much you can still learn even with your "bare bones" site. It gives you new eyes with a fresh perspective.

As for feeling like you're going very slow let me reassure you that there is no one pace to go at. Everyone is different. As long as you are working and building your site every little bit of progress helps.

It would be beneficial for you to put a now blog post out every week, if you can, as it will let Google know that you are still actively updating your site.

I would also consider this training, which I found to be such a blessing, it has taken my site to the next level: I hope this helps.

Good luck out there and take care.

Hi, LParkinson,
You are not alone on how you feel because almost everybody feels the same as the starting but as time goes on when you are seeing your handwork or what you are earning you will start to enjoy it. It needs dedication and commitment.
Some may make it three months while some a year and still other more than that, it depends on how dedicated you are.
You can call for feedback any time as long as your site is set up and is running

Hi Lindsey, when we are starting out it is easy to feel that we are not as good or haven't made progress, much of the initial journey is solitary, it is hard to gauge our progress because we have nothing to compare it with, every time we log in here we are learning at times more than what we appreciate.

Add content and when it feels right, seek some feedback, it is not about living up to the expectations of others it is about letting others help you to improve.

Time constants can have a big bearing on what we can achieve in the early stages, you will be surprised how quickly you will build momentum when you get going, best wishes.

You are doing just great Lindsey. We are often too hard on ourselves, and expect too much of ourselves too soon. :)

There's actually no such thing as being behind here--we all work at our own pace! You'll get there when the time is right for YOU! I know things can be trying sometimes, but don't fret. Good things will come to you and everyone else working diligently when it is THEIR time.

I wish you all the very best and keep your chin up!---You're doing great and are right on track!! (My Mom always said, when you hear a train whistle, it is precisely the time you need to hear that you're on the right track!)

We all feel that way from time to time. You can still submit for feedback as to the design of the site. I submitted for feedback on one of my sites early and was told to change my background image.

That ended up being a great choice.

What is it you think you are struggling with the most? I'd like to help if I can. Would it be site content, setting it up? Or something else?

As a perfectionist, I had to let go of that feeling in order to progress much faster. Nothing is perfect.
