Life and Your Business
Lately it seems like everything is catching up with me - my life on the farm, writing, keeping up with my websites, blogging and overall managing my business and balancing it with my life.
As I did mention before I live on a Cocoa Estate in the Caribbean and as I write this we are preparing for the beginning of the new cocoa season which will lasts for a period of about six months.
I can already see how this is affecting my online business as I now have to divide my day between chores around the estate and working online. I must say that it is beginning to look daunting and a bit overwhelming.
At times like this it is very easy to lose focus and lag behind with things like updating my blog and general posting to social sites and other things that we know are necessary to keep our business visible.
This is not to complain but somehow I have a feeling that by putting it out there and hearing what other members here at WA do to balance their online business with the other aspects of their life will give me some inspiration going forward.
It would be great to hear what your thoughts are on this and also how your are able to keep focus and not get too distracted or overwhelmed.
Thanks in advance for sharing

Hi Lylette
Just my few cents worth. I have a pretty busy existence also -looking after 4 young kids 2-8 years old and a wife who has a very pressured job. My online stuff comes after all this in priorities - but is still important.
I think some keys are:
1. Prioritize what you must do to succeed - seems like keeping on top of content is vitally important.
2. Aim to complete 2-3 posts / articles a week. To do this - take some time to select your next couple of topics and then just use snippets of time over the next day or two to research and form your thoughts in your mind. Then - perhaps try to find a slot of a couple of hours to write.
3. learning - try to watch video's etc while doing dishes or other tasks. Maybe if you can have a smartphone and head-phones - this can also help. Read the stuff that is helpful - save other stuff for the times you are freer.
4. emails - use your smartphone to just keep on top of key emails - and delete everything else or move to a folder for later review.
As one friend here says "Rome wasn't built in a day" . Y9ou will get there one step at a time if you just keep at it - regularly doing small bits.
Hope this helps.
Richard
Thanks Richard the smartphone idea is brilliant as I do most of my stuff on my laptop...thanks for these ideas.
You are welcome. I tend to read a lot of blogs and reply to mail while at kids swimming lessons or ballet etc :)
All the best - and also seasons - sometimes it is about just doing the really important to keep things going and other seasons you can do the nice / fluffy things. Go for it.
Sometimes life gets in the way and you must step back and take care of business. Decide if you have an hr a day (or 2) to give to WA then do everything you can within that alloted time. If not, do what you need to do and come back. Don't get overwhelmed because you wont' do anyone any good. You'll just be a bundle of nerves.
Very true about being a bundle of nerves Sui..sometimes that is exactly how I feel. Thanks for your imput.
Well I have some very busy weeks and some very quiet weeks. On the busy ones I always set a target which is a specific number of posts per week ( lately it has been just one on busy weeks) a set amount of time watching training and some time helping others out nd working towards ambassadorship (ambassadorship is just something I'd personally love to gain, it wont really affect my business)

Hi Lylette, Just keep doing what you can when you can, adding content and building out your website is important, but don't let it overwhelm you, everything will get done as it is suppose to, just keep going and enjoy.

Rob
