Just to be clear: the featured image is not my analytics. It's a stock photo. Sorry for any confusion!

----

I joined Wealthy Affiliate just under 2 months ago, in November 2019. After only a few days on my trial account, I signed up for a year membership.

Why did I jump right in? A few reasons.

Training

I knew that Wealthy Affiliate offered a clear path to my goals. That’s not to say the path is easy, but any journey becomes easier once the steps are laid out.

I learned so much watching Kyle’s videos that I knew, even early, I had discovered something special.

I know I can get lost in the what-ifs and worrying about all the unknowns. I love having clear, actionable goals set out along with each training video or article. I committed to doing the training without skipping any steps, and so far I’ve kept that promise to myself.

Community

The other reason I joined Wealthy Affiliate is because of the community. There are a lot of great people on this platform. Since we’re all working towards similar goals, it makes it very easy to connect with people.

There is also a surprisingly high amount of community-created content -- both blog posts and training courses.

I love looking through some early blog posts from members who have had some really great success implementing what they’ve learned here.

I never wait long to get an answer to my questions.

That said, I’m sticking around because the training continues to be beneficial and the people continue to be kind and helpful.

Success Achieved in 2 Months at Wealthy Affiliate

I’ve been very consistent with the Online Entrepreneur Certification training and I’m at Level 4: Mastering Social Engagement -- step 20 out of 34 for those of you who want all the details. Sticking to the training -- and writing a few extra articles -- has given me 20 articles in under 2 months.

That means I have published 1 article about every 3 days since I started. This blows my mind. This is definitely the longest I’ve sustained a self-driven project that wasn’t directly related to earning a degree.

My website gets no organic traffic yet, but I have some visitors from my posts on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook.

The training has made it very easy to get started with social media. I was hesitant at first. I don’t want to draw attention to myself or be judged, but I stuck with the training. Now I have 3 social media accounts and people are liking, following, and resharing things I post. I even gained an email subscriber from a relationship started on Twitter.

The Challenges I've Encountered

I've put in a lot of hard work, and I feel great about what I’ve accomplished in a relatively short time. But there are a few challenges I’ve run into that I want to share.

Planning Articles

Once I have a keyword and clarity about what I’ll write about, it’s easy. Writing itself isn’t really a challenge to me -- not saying I’m the best at it, it just doesn’t slow me down.

But sometimes coming up with article ideas based on keywords is challenging for me. I think it comes from the next (greater) challenge: imposter syndrome.

Imposter Syndrome

It’s hard to write articles in my niche when I see other articles (even for low competition keyword) from more established websites that have teams of knowledgeable writers.

Sometimes I feel like a child trying to compete with adults. This definitely has more to do with me than anything else.

It’s a bit demoralizing at times. I promised myself I just won’t quit. So I don’t. I keep writing. But sometimes it takes me a bit to find a keyword and article concept combination that feels authentic to me, my experience, my knowledge, and the kind of message I want to give my readers.

Also, it’s hard to know if I’m writing quality content or just spinning my wheels. I’m guessing I’ll have a much better idea around May, June, or July based on the 6-8 month timeframe most people say it takes until Google smiles upon new sites.

My Goals for the Next 2 Months

My goals for the next 2 months are simple:

  • continue working on the training
  • publish 12 articles each month

Thankfully the training covers researching keywords and writing articles.

If I happen to finish my training in the next 2 months, I’m going to start over with the Online Entrepreneur Certification. I’ve heard this suggested by a few (very successful) members, so I’ll take the advice.

My personal writing goals are to continue publishing 12 articles each month. So at the end of March, I'll have 44 articles on my site.

The majority of those will be focused on a particular keyword. The rest will be to share some personal information and opinions (personality pieces, I'll call them) with my audience.

Wealthy Affiliate 2020 Goals

I joined Wealthy Affiliate with the goal to make $25 each day by December 31, 2020. That’s $750 each month.

I don’t know how realistic that is, but I’m working towards that being a possibility. Even if that happens in 2021 or 2022, I don’t mind. I have a long-term mindset.

I have the vision, the training, and the community. I'll keep going.

Advice for New Wealthy Affiliate Members

Stick to the training.

Don't get sidetracked with things that don't matter (yet). Just produce content and keep researching keywords.

Create an article checklist (as Jay suggested in one training video). This has made the process of writing, checking my SEO title and metadata, adding images, adding the 'read-more' breakpoint, and everything else much easier. It's hard to miss a step when you have a checklist.

And, finally, keep going.

Here's to our success in 2020 (and beyond).

You are on the right track. You are doigreally great!

Thank you!

Welcome!

You really have it together for someone who has been working at this for a couple of months. This sure makes your long term future look bright. Congratulations on all that you have accomplished.

Thank you for the encouragement.

Hi Kyle,

I found your beginners story quite compelling. No matter how you got them, your analytics look very encouraging for only two months in.

Kyle in one of his trainings stated work on your article first and then figure out your keyword. In other words, don't let keyword block stop you from expressing your ideas.

One suggestion is to create a storyboard of your blogs clarifying in your mind how they can relate to each other to tell a bigger story. In this way you can tell your readers to stay tuned for the next part of your story.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers!

Edwin

The analytics aren't mine! I updated the post to state that. I wasn't trying to misleading -- I should have made that more clear.

Thank you so much for sharing that information! I either missed Kyle's suggestion to focus on the message first (and then the keyword), or I haven't gotten to it yet. Either way, that seems freeing.

Also, thank you for the storyboard idea. I like the idea of clarifying the bigger story. I'm going to do this. Thank you!

You have done well. Enjoy your journey.

🙃 Stanley

Thank you! I am enjoying the journey. Not always easy, but it always feels worth it.

You are right. Some areas are hard and need to get use to.
