The Most Relevant Book I Read in 2016
In early December Tim Ferriss published his latest book, Tools of Titans, where he reviews lessons learned from the nearly 200 world-class performers he interviewed on the Tim Ferriss Show. In his introduction he has a section where he talks about what they have in common. What jumped out at me was one of the books that had rave reviews among the group. The book was Influence by Robert Cialdini.
I bought Influence and couldn't put it down. It gets a little dry at times because it's about the science, but the principles that it teaches about persuasion are invaluable in our business of online marketing.
The book focuses on the six principles of persuasion: Reciprocity, Commitment and Consistency, Social Proof, Authority, Liking, and Scarcity.
I highly recommend this book not only to online marketers, but to everyone. This book will help increase your conversions and sales. It will also help you understand yourself and help you to see and resist sales tactics used against you.
