Will the old ways still work?

Many years ago when I succesfully created an amazon affiliate site, things were very different than they are now. Google tends to update its algorithm every other month or so, changing the way websites rank. This used to be the most important factor to us when working on our site. We needed to be sure we could keep ranking in google, and were willing to do whatever was necessary to achieve these rankings. We used many different techniques, from social media to link building techniques, but today I am just going to go over some of the link building models we were using.

The Wrong/Right Way to do things....

So the idea behind link building is to trick google into thinking that many different sites are talking about your site so google thinks its trending and ranks it higher. Now there are many avenues to buy backlinks to your site, we use to use blackhatworld.com to find different packages. Heres a breakdown...every website has a different Page Rank and Domain Authority, so sites with a higher PR and DA score linking to your site will drive your link velocity better than PR 1 and 2 sites. The problem is PR 5 and higher sites charge an arm and a leg to post about your site, so start up companies with little funding sometimes revert to russian links to build their link velocity. Unfortunately pointing these directly to your money site will usually end up getting you sandboxed by google (Taken off the ranking completely). So what we used to do was build 10 web 2.0's or wordpress sites each containing one of the blog posts we currently had on our money site, but a spun version of the article. We would then buy hundreds of thousands of russian backlinks and point them to our 10 web 2.0's thus redirecting that link velocity to our money site while having a buffer (Our web 2.0's) keeping our money site safe from google's punishments. Though this worked quite effectively, what truly worked best was buying high PR and Domain authority links, and having those pointed directly to our money site. Worked so well in fact that we would be ranking above amazon for the same products we were selling through there affiliate program.

Wealthy affiliate as a start...

I really like the approach we take here at wealthy affilate tackling the easier and lower traffic long tail keywords, to slowly build up your traffic over time. This method works great and as you build your blog you will be sure to get more and more traffic. I really do like the emphasis that is put on content and how important it should be to us. The internet is all about content nowadays, we definetly cannot stress this enough. Once you do have enough content though, as I plan on doing as well, I recommend buying some link building packages if you really want to push through the competition. As long as you plan on continuing to add content to your site, every little push will help. Also when trying to go for keywords with much more difficulty sometimes link building is the only way to increase your sites domain authority and page rank. I recommend you take all you can from wealthy affiliate and its great training but remember there is always more to be learned. So keep your eyes open and keep coming up with new ways to tame this beast we call google. Heres a saying I memorized as a kid.

A Great deal of talent is lost in the world for lack of a little courage. Everyday send to their graves obscure men and women whom timidity prevented from making a first effort. Who if could have been induced to begin would in all probability have made it great lengths in the career of fame. See the fact is, to do anything in life worth doing we must not stand back shivering and fearing the cold and danger, but jump in and scramble through.
