Fire Cupping
Today, I'm absolutely thrilled to share a glimpse of what goes on in my vibrant Acupuncture Clinic, where the magic of Fire Cups happens! If you or anyone you know needs some expert assistance, you're in for a treat!
In our journey to explore the various healing therapies at Galway Acupuncture Hub, today we delve into the ancient art of Fire Cupping. This traditional therapy has been used for centuries to promote wellness and healing.
What is Fire Cupping?Fire Cupping is a unique form of cupping therapy where glass cups or plastic jars are placed on the skin after creating a vacuum using fire. This age-old technique aims to improve circulation, relieve pain, and extract toxins from the body.
How Does it Work?By heating the air inside the cups, a vacuum is created. When placed on your skin, the suction pulls the tissue partially into the cup. This process enhances circulation and helps to release toxins and ‘heat’ trapped in your body's tissues.
Benefits of Fire Cupping:Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow, which aids in the healing process.
Pain Relief: Effective in relieving muscle tension and promoting relaxation.
Detoxification: Helps in drawing out toxins from the body tissues.
Treating Blockages: Especially useful in areas where there's injury or energy blockage.
What to Expect?During the treatment, cups may be moved around or left in place. The cupped area will likely turn red, blue, or purple, particularly if an underlying injury or blockage occurs. This is a normal reaction and a sign that the treatment is working. The discoloration is temporary and typically clears within a few days to a week.
Is it Right for You?Fire Cupping is suitable for many, but like all therapies, it is tailored to individual needs. We ensure the highest standards of safety and comfort during the session.

Interesting, Lucy! I have seen suction cupping on Monica when she was in physical therapy!

I am familiar with both traditional cupping and fire cupping, with over 15 years of experience.
Traditional cupping uses glass or plastic 'cups' that are laid upon the skin, and a pump removes the air to provide a suction, or vacuum. This will result in raised circles of various coloration due to the level of toxins in the body. (See screenshot)
Fire cupping can be dangerous due to the use of fire. Any time you use fire, there are dangers to be aware of when fire cupping.
