Okay, here's an explanation (that many people completely live by), but I'll also provide my thoughts on this too.

An SEO plugin will provide you with information as to whether you blog post is "SEO-friendly".

The aim being that the more "SEO-friendly" you are, the higher you should potentially rank on Google and the other search engines.

So,

Green = Good for SEO
Amber = Could do with improvement
Red = Bad for SEO

As I've said, many people absolutely live by what an SEO plugin tells them to do.

However, if all your articles come back as green, or 100/100, it is likely that your article with satisfy THE SEO PLUGIN, but it may NOT satisfy your human readers.

Furthermore, Google has been trying to get bloggers to "humanize" their content more-and-more with each passing year.

Realistically, you should only ever use an SEO plugin as a GUIDE.

Unfortunately, many people believe that if all their articles are "green" or "100/100" that this will somehow skyrocket them to the top of Google's search results.

NOT TRUE

In fact, I don't even use an SEO plugin, but I always like to test things.

Some of my best perfroming articles, I'm talking ranking number one, producing 5,000+ visitors per month, are RED according to an SEO plugin.

In other words, the SEO plugin is telling me that my SEO is terrible and that I will never rank!!

NOPE!!! Hahaha!! I've proved otherwise.

As always Lucia, I've written about this before, Hahahaha!! Here you go: Just remember that an SEO plugin provides GUIDANCE, you do not have to follow it exactly.

As long as your articles are based around great keyword selection, and your content is both engaging and helpful to readers, then you have a far better chance of ranking, getting traffic, and making money, than robotically following what a piece of software tells you.

and dg description generated - may be slightly too long with yellow ..nothing to worry about

in other words the search engines will only show hte first xx characters ...if this is ok hten nothing to worry about...

On my Google search console it looks like I have some problems with some of my pages, I cannot add a print screen here, it would make things much easier.

Hey Lucia,

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that you have to do NOTHING, LOL!!

Did I read somewhere that you wanted to change some of your posts from "Uncategorized" to a specific "Category"?

If so, this is the reason for "soft 404".

This basically happens because Google tries to crawl a page that the server (Wealthy Affiliate hosting side) provides a "200 OK" for a particular url.

However, Google "cannot find" this url.

So, I'm guessing the "soft 404" is probably for a url that no longer exists, i.e. your articles are no longer "uncategorized", but are now placed under certain categories.

You can actually click on each of the "warnings" in Google Search Console and it will give you a list of urls.

As Diane has mentioned, if any url has a word in (brackets) at the end, you can ignore this url.

As an example:

www.lucia26.com/how-to-make-money = good url you want to have indexed

The following three types of url (a word in brackets at the end) you DON'T need to have indexed

www.lucia26.com/how-to-make-money(feed)

www.lucia26.com/how-to-make-money(category)

www.lucia26.com/how-to-make-money(tag)

As for the blocked (401), this could simply be a page that you don't want to have indexed.

But, once again, you can just click on the result in Google Search Console at will tell you exactly which url this is.

I've often seen this where people have a password-protected page, or even a landing page (collect email addresses) that they don't wish to have indexed.

As you screenshots below only show ONE page has this 401 status, I'm going to guess that it probably ISN'T a page you want indexed.

Just click on the actual results in Google Search Console and check the urls.

Are any of them actual REAL urls for articles that you want indexed?

OR

Are they are pages and posts that you don't really want indexed (categories, feed, tag, etc.)

The same goes for the "Crawled - currently not indexed" and "Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag".

Just a wild guess based on experience, but I have a feeling that you won't have to do anything.

What you can also do is do a search in Google like this:

site:https://luciaswebsite.com

(replace luciaswebsite.com with the REAL domain name)

and this will give you a list of all your indexed articles.

However, as I say, I don't think this is an issue, especially if you have recently just added "categories" for all your posts.

Well it seems that your answer isn't just a wild guess after all :)

I understand now what happened, it's true that I wanted to change from Uncategorized to Categorized but I did that only in a siterubix test site.

On my main site I added some pages to replace Categories adding my posts as subitems and left them like that for now until I figure out what I want to do.

In back office of WP they still appear Uncategorized.

Most of the errors shown have (feed) added at the end of the URL. Some have numbers..https://mysite.com/28/41/ to this soft 404.

The only strange thing I noticed now are some dates that appear on the right side, I am a member here since October 2022 but some dates appear from last year...when I wasn't even dreaming of starting a website .

So not sure what's with that..I will attach a photo and promise I' ll leave you alone..for now LOL!

But yes, you already gave me the answer and I don't have to do NOTHING :) and you made yourself very clear thank you!

Thank you Diane, I didn't find any of those words which you wrote to me.

Most of them are posts but also appears "About Me" page, Privacy Policy page more precisely where I have that "Excluded by noindex tag" reason.

I will contact also Site Support to see if they can help, thank you kindly!

The no index tag is concerning. I'm not sure what's going on with that. From what I read you either inadvertently discouraged the pages from being indexed, a plug in is choosing that for some reason or other dastardly reasons.

If you can, perhaps do a print screen and put it onto paint and save it so you can post it here for one of our more experienced members to take a look at. I would hold off on any redirect until you understand why this is happening so you can go to the source.

When you are passionate about your niche subject and genuinely interested in, you'd find that content flows naturally. It does not take long to write an article.

Writing is pretty much like explaining something to someone.

You may start with free writing whatever comes to mind, onward to a more focused writing.

You may use apps like Grammarly which helps with learning and writing, an avenue for you to consider.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ - You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

Other sources include https://Quora.com, https://Answers.com, https://AnswerThePublic.com, YouTube search engine etc.

You may research other peoples work however all content must be originally written in your own words.

Feel free to reach out when you need help or have further questions.

Yes Abie thank you so much, I ussualy focus on youtube videos and comments they have also Quota, but I will check also what you suggested.

The idea is that some parts of my niche are a little too much for my understanding, it relates with mental health,I am no therapist nor doctor so for some I have to do a deeper research from reliable sources so people can trust what I am writting..

For sure it would be much easier to write what comes to my mind but with some articles I feel that it's not enough..or maybe I'm wrong I don't know..still learning..

Remember, Lucia, that an external link takes the reader off your site and away from your CTA (affiliate link, email list request, etc.). So, use them sparingly.

I use one external link to an authoritative source in my article, strategically placed for SEO.

It really depends on the post and what you’re trying to accomplish. I like to put it after my CTA so visitors won’t bounce off my articles prematurely, although it may be better for SEO to place it “above the fold” (before a reader has to scroll down).

There’s no “absolutely definitive” answer. Experiment and see what works best for your niche and audience.

Such as:

Dr. Max in a Harvard School of Medicine study on viral infections, said, “…babble, babble and more babble…” (I probably would also use italics for the words in quotations.

It’s ok to quote other sources if you give them credit. If it’s a medical source, I would also include a full citation of the reference at the end of the article.

So, you could say according to the Mayo Clinic (1), “your quoted info.”

In the reference section:
1. The Mayo Clinic
2. The Cleveland Clinic
3. Etc

I use the APA reference style for medical info.

If you paraphrase info, indicate that you are doing so.

That will protect you from plagiarism and help you establish E.A.T.

Use quotations sparingly in your content or Google may see it as duplicate content and penalize you.

Hi! So let's say I would like to categorize the posts I published until now, to be easier for me to create a more organized menu, the problem is they are already categorized as

Yes, you can go back and update the categories to whatever you like. Don't forget to uncheck the uncategorized check box. Here's more information: Also, there are plugins to convert posts to pages and vice versa. Whether or not it's a good idea depends on the purpose of the content.

Hi Lucia...
changing categories on posts is simple enough...
setup the new category ( posts>>categories)
and then come back to your list of posts ( all posts left hand sidebar)
depending on how many posts you have if you can't see them all on one page then click on screen options at the top and change the number of posts per page to a couple more than the most you have ....
this jsut makes it easier...
now go down the list of posts and select the ones you want added to another category - if it is all of them then the easiest is to click the box at the top....
then change the dropdown box bulk actions and select edit and click apply...
you will get another panel come up...
thisis where you can choose a category for them all - add tags...change hte author....
and click update when you have finished and the posts selected will all have that change...
if you have a post structure that includes the category then it is not a good idea to change posts from category to category....
but as most of us only have site url/ post name then all will be fine ...
it is worth thinking through a site structure now - but not adding the categories to the menu yet ( google likes to see posts behind hte menu or it is taken as thin content...so keep adding those posts)

so your about me page must link to other posts or even the home url - or it is orphaned ( a piece of content with no other links to anywhere)

so your menu would link to the parent pages of a category and within that page there would be links to child pages with content about that category...
but the main thing to remember whenever you create a page ( unless you don't want anything connected to it) you need to add links...

Because I was still testing my site I addded a menu where I have 3 pages, for each of those pages ,which I wanted them to be as categories, if you hover above those you can see a number of posts, but if you press the page itself it doesn't show nothing more than a description of what that page/category is about.

So how can I make that look better? Is that considered a parent page?
I should add links to my child pages right?

My mind is fighting with me a little in understanding all, sorry for asking so many questions, I am a fast learner ,it's just the volume of informations overwhelms me sometimes :)

linking pages is the same as a linking strategy for internal links on posts...
and i would jsut mind map out what you are thinking of doing with your site to see where the linking opportunities are ( or add link whisper plugin to help...)
to create a child page you jsut select the parent page when in the editor...

you can create a menu structure straight from categories once you have them on your site and these categories will list all the posts within the category...

if you want ot have the menu item going to a page then on that page i would have a query loop and select hte pages within that section of your site ...

i think you are trying to do two systems...
so you need to decide whether you will go all pages or mainly posts and use the infastructure of wordpress....
all pages means you need to stop and think about the structure of your site and what pages go where and draw it out to see the links...
articles 1-4 relate to articles within each category ( not the same articles...)

I'll be using my blog posts to draw in traffic and funnel some of that traffic onto the pages until I get some authority to rank the pages. A longer game plan but I know this going in so you won't see any whining from me on why isn't my site getting uber traffic or why am I not rich yet, hahaha.

My site will be almost entirely informational only pitching a couple of affiliate ideas on a few of those pages I'm creating now.


I love the informational concept absolutely, provided your keyword search is top notch, you could drive a lot of traffic to your website I am sure you have a plan in place already.

It will be a while before my setup looks right to me. I would strongly advise all to just follow the training exactly step by step how it lays out. When I start my second site I plan on going back to the initial training and doing just that.

I've studied bloggers for years without ever acting on it. Studied their thoughts, the way they structure their sites and such.

If you plan on setting up an email list which I advocate strongly one does. I would recommend signing up for emails from top sites in the niche you pick and study how their emails are structured. It will give you insights into how they are constructing funnels and engaging with their visitors.

I'm treading somewhat off the path here, and can tell you because of this it will initially set me months behind the potential those of you following the training will have.

Almost none of my pages have any chance of ranking initially as they are competing with many authority sites. It won't be until I actually start blogging I can think about realistic immediate SEO that can begin bringing in the traffic. I'm taking the long route here, which is setting up what will be found here before worrying about anyone finding me to visit, lol.

There I stopped cause I needed to look for more answers in other places so I don't get too many articles published in the wrong way, changing my theme was enough to make me invest more time in understanding what is happening behind, things that can't be learned only by following the training.

I had to ask lots of questions and still have along way to get to your level and experience, anyway each day I go back and back to previous lessons to find out what I m missing..

I am not worried about getting traffic , I preffer having a solid foundation and understanding all very good so I can do it once and save time to learn something else than going back and editing mistakes.

I also found a website within the niche I have and I am studying it, structure,categories and all that I can but the site is build from 2012 so you can imagine..it's a great idea with the emails too.

Yes, you can go back and update the categories to whatever you like. Don't forget to uncheck the uncategorized check box. Here's more information: Also, there are plugins to convert posts to pages and vice versa. Whether or not it's a good idea depends on the purpose of the content.

changing categories on posts is simple enough...
setup the new category ( posts>>categories)
and then come back to your list of posts ( all posts left hand sidebar)
depending on how many posts you have if you can't see them all on one page then click on screen options at the top and change the number of posts per page to a couple more than the most you have ....
this jsut makes it easier...
now go down the list of posts and select the ones you want added to another category - if it is all of them then the easiest is to click the box at the top....
