Personally Contacting Affiliate Programs

I'm a big fan of Commission Junction. If at all possible, I try to stick with them for several reasons. 1) It's easier to manage one program than multiple. 2) I like their tracking system. I'm not sure how long they keep cookies, but folks can make purchases, leave and come back again well down the road, and I still receive credit. 3) I never wonder if CJ is being honest with counting commissions, because they're a 3rd party.
There are others, but we don't have to make a laundry list out of it.
The Why

Today, I've decided to contact a couple of affiliate programs directly. Typically, I just apply through CJ, and let their system to their magic. However, I haven't received the response I've wanted with these two programs.
One of the programs denied my application. It's unfortunate, because I really like this particular program and use it quite a bit in my day job. I'm familiar with it and more than willing to boast about it.
The other program wasn't denied. However, they've not responded to my application, and I think it's been a few weeks. Then again, I live in a somewhat of a time warp. It surprises me when I'm reminded of an event in my life. It seems like a couple of months ago, but I find out it happened over a year ago. I'm equally surprised when I think an even happened a few months ago, but find out it only happened last week. Who knows when I really applied to the program, but it seems like I applied weeks ago.
My Requests
My introduction began with my account and website information. From there, I hit the meat of my email, which included my background with their program and why I'd like to be an affiliate member. Then I ended it with a request, asking what criteria they seek in an affiliate website.
So... good luck me! I'll let you all know how it goes.
