3 Things I Learned During My 1st Week on WA Premium

When was the last time you signed up for a web service or social media account and were flooded with welcoming emails, congratulations, and offers of support? Anyone?

Chances are you haven't.

I've been on supportive FB groups but none as personally invested as the community here at WA. What's more, the overwhelming support of WA by WA members speaks to its genuine ability to support and grow their member's websites and businesses.

My first week on WA has been a feeding frenzy of good tidings, excellent training, and hands on experience.

3 primary things I've learned:

1. Perfection doesn't exist. Optimization does.

The key is to start the website and to begin building it regardless of how wonky it is. Everything needs to start somehwere. You can't hit a homerun until you know the mechanics of how to swing a bat, align it with the pitch, and become strong enough to send that ball singing into the grandstands.

Homeruns aren't a "thing" that happens. They are the culmination of training, untold hours of practice, and consistently coming back to the plate to swing again. "Thanks, Nate, for the analogy."

2. Go slow to go fast.

You Marines out there know how true this is. There's a reason why the military trains their members to be methodical and take their time learning and practicing until it becomes muscle memory.

They want to minimize mistakes and create ingrained habits. But in our case, we also want to minimize burnout. Rushing can lead to information overload before you learn how to properly do anything.

I should know!

The key is to realize that a great website doesn't happen overnight. You might pay someone to design a site for you, but then what? Who's going to write the content, optimize the copy, and market it? Go slow to go fast by taking your time to do the training, practice the lessons, and click publish one wonky page at a time.

3. Paying it forward is the result of a grateful heart.

I admit I'm a "taker" right now. I'm learning just like you are. However, there are those of you who have hit a stride. You've broke through a barrier, overcome an obstacle, hit a goal or something else because of WA.

You can teach us your jedi powers, provide extra context, or give us a sneak peak at something altogether new!

I've already received numerous personal messages and chats from wonderful WA members who made sure to attach links to free articles, videos, training modules, and much more that they found helpful or that they developed for new WA members. They're paying it foward!!

Paying it forward makes our community stronger the more we say thank you by sharing our newfound wisdom... and newbies like me thank you for it.

Let's be friends,

Rachel Lovelace

You have stated it so well, Rachel! And what you will find is that it isn't just for new members--this community keeps helping one another throughout the journey. I've been here over 4 years and find it to be such an incredible, friendly bunch of people!

Thank you, Diane. I've seen the same thing in only the first week.

Your blog is inspiring. It's so good to get your perspective. Really liked your statement "My first week on WA has been a feeding frenzy of good tidings, excellent training, and hands on experience."

Love your 2 captions: "Perfection doesn't exist. Optimization does" and "Go slow to go fast." They are so astute. This is a great message for new comers. Paying it Forward of course is always in.

It does us good to see new comers with such wisdom. We forget our thoughts when we started over 10 years ago.

We wish you much success as you continue your journey here. ..

.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I've had a great experience so far, and I thought it might be a good idea to remind people what we have here... even though I know I'm preaching to the choir. ;)

You would be surprised at how many new members need your 3 points.

Nicely done.

Taking all the words from my mouth! Thank you for sharing

:) Great minds think alike!
