This is why I keep the opening of new accounts to a minimum. I have the basics, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, but for now that's it.
The tsunami of membership sites/social media has just become overwhelming. Then to add even more headaches you have to jump through hoops if you change your mind and want to remove yourself.
I've had bank fraud and credit card fraud several times, and I"m sure that's connected to my online accounts.
Trying to keep track of who has what of my personal information online is almost a second full time job.
Thanks for another helpful post. :-)
Ha ha ha, this is priceless. I love it.
It is really frustrating when you are looking for a way to delete your account and there is no obvious way. I have spent time in the past trying to do this and had to resort to customer service and the email back and forth.
I wish I had seen this before.
Thank you.
Great blog!
Yeah it's to the point where I rarely sign up for anything and when I do I sign up using completely junk / temporary information to the majority of those.
Although I don't like over regulation it seems like many people do love regulations these days. A good regulation would be to make it mandatory to list on every account creation form / page how hard it is and how long it takes to process... to clear out all of your data including the account itself.
That would be useful... WE NEVER REMOVE YOUR ACCOUNT AND WE DO NOT PROVIDE A WAY FOR YOU TO REMOVE ANYTHING YOU POST. "Thank you. Next!"

This is great! I wonder if my "MySpace" account is still good... LOL! I haven't used it in over 10 years at least. When I got my Facebook account, I never went back to MySpace. There are a few others that I may check out and delete as well.
Thanks, Loes, this is very valuable info to hold on to.
Success:)
