Testing...1...2...3
So excited to be writing my very first blog post! I hope it doesn't suck!
Hi! I'm Weird, Nice to Meet You!
I am an introvert by nature. I lurk a lot. I enjoy sitting contentedly in shadowy corners of the web (and real life, by the way), being nosy-- reading people's posts / comments without saying much. When I do speak (or type), I inadvertently come across as over-zealous in an attempt to convey that I care without sounding preoccupied or cold.
Although, since I've been here, I've seen right away that you guys do things differently and participation is not only encouraged, but pretty much required to ensure your success. I was nervous at first, but I'm getting more used to it every day I'm here.
See, I was nervous before because I don't really think like other people. I am the dork who misses the obvious joke, who almost never gets sarcasm when it is first presented, and who can almost always be counted on to spout ideas that, to those who fail to look beyond the surface, seem unrelated to the topic at hand.
It makes me feel out of sorts at times.

AHA Moment: Quirkiness Could Come in Handy
It did before anyways. Until I was doing a bit of research around the web and discovered that some of the most successful bloggers and webpreneurs are so popular because of their ability to put a unique take on an ordinary idea when it comes to content creation.
Being completely unique can be detrimental to your online success, but on the flip side of that coin you can't copy your way to work at home freedom either.
A healthy balance of the two is what it takes to help you become successful.
It is in putting unique spins on old ideas that I feel my labyrinthine thinking will eventually come in handy.
Being Yourself
But it's about even more than that. It's about being yourself. It is about accepting yourself for who you are and writing in the voice that most naturally reflects your individual quirkiness.
If you're faking it people are going to notice-- and that's more destructive than just about any other mistake you can make because it severs trust with your readers.
It seems so cliché here, drawn out in words. Most people think they're already real. I myself thought I was, until I realized that in keeping my thoughts locked away, and censoring myself excessively I was being just as fake as those super high octave "Heyyyyy!" introductions you give to people you don't like in public places.
Don't be Sorry and Don't be Scared
Don't be afraid to THINK DIFFERENTLY. Don't be afraid to Be YOURSELF.
If you're a bubbly socialista, be that. If you're a proud nerd/ tech guru type, embody that. If you're a book worm, a NASA astronaut, a conspiracy theorist, a horticulturist, a high class business consultant, or even a personal shopper extraordinaire-- whatever it is, don't be afraid to show it in all it's glory.
BE whoever you are fully. And never apologize for doing so. Sure, not everyone will like it, but if you do it right, you'll still be just popular enough to achieve everything you ever dreamed.
