Spam, spam and more spam.

"Wow, how do they find me so quickly..." -I think when I open my inbox again. I've registered three domain names now here through WA and it works brilliantly, very good and easy system! But it doesn't take more than 30 minutes of the registration and someone (or automated something) is already emailing me either selling me design services, templates, CMS-systems, or worse: trying to seriously scam me by sending scary emails saying than unless I enter my credit card details here and there, the domain name will disappear, or Google will reject me forever and ever... :)

Well, I find this very amusing, but honestly, how do they find you so quickly? Is there an automated system that tells anyone interested when a new domain name is registered? And do people fall for these scams?

Have a good, and spam-free weekend! :)

Did you put spam shield plugin on each website?

Yep, I did! Now I haven't received more spam, they seem to hit me when I first published the site and not anymore.... fingers crossed! :)

That's really strange, Liisa! I've never received such emails yet. I'm wondering if they are somehow tracking you because of some malware or virus?

I shouldn't have any viruses, or malware, I have really good virus-protection software... But I'll double-check! It just seems to happen right away I'll add my email address to the privacy policy page. Well, today it seems I didn't get any new spam :) Thanks!!

I would say honestly it depends on your domain. If it's a hot one then yeah, I'm sure you'll get lots of spam for it.

Just curious: did you buy from Namecheap as the training suggested? The WhoisGuard helps to keep you anonymous. You will still get emails but it will be more difficult to contact you.

Hiya! Thanks for the comment! I followed the instructions fully, so it's the Namecheap. I guess it's not that difficult to contact me (or send spam) when the privacy policy with the email address is up on the site :) I don't have any content up yet, but as soon as I publish the template and put the privacy policy in there, that's it. I guess I don't really need to put the privacy policy up until I have some more content in there too, or to even publish the site until I have some content, but I'm just so excited to play around and it only takes a minute to publish the site :)

The privacy policy is one of the very first pages you should publish. Try not to put it off
