I mean, look at these numbers from Pinterest!
On the left side is a real picture with the number of views and 3 outbound clicks to my website on the right.
On the right, is an AI picture with about the same number of views. Look at the differences in 'saved pins' and especially the outbound clicks!

ALthough that makes me want to change my whole strategy and definitely use more AI pictures as a whole, it is kind of creepy. But we better embrace it!

What are your thoughts?

Welcome

As you know, I am a huge fan of AI images, but the font seems to make a difference too.

In your first image, the text is quite difficult to read, and if people have to stop and decipher it, they may just choose to scroll on instead.

Whereas in your AI image, it's immediately obvious what your pin is about.

In fact, I would actually make the text bigger and bolder, you only have a couple of seconds to catch somebody's eye, before they move on!

It looks clearer on Pinterest itself, but I know what you mean :-) thanks!

Hi Lizzy

I'm finding the same pattern, but I don't have the data required to make a more definitive statement.

My AI Pinterest images typically get more impressions, clicks, and saves quicker than standard images.

I also noticed that AI images without writing on them generally seem to perform better than images with text. Are you finding that, too?

For example, I pined a photo of a flame-top Les Paul guitar on Pinterest. The AI image I made (using DALL-E 3) of the same guitar (see below) is way ahead of it in all metrics. 😎

Unfortunately, the guitar niche is not super-popular on Pinterest, but I'm still doing pretty well, and it's so easy to automate everything on that platform.

Interesting! Didn't take notice of that, as I usually do place text on images. Also to drive them to my blog or YouTube channel, so that they know what it is about besides a pretty picture, no?
Rock on!

Hi Lizzy

Yeah, what you're saying makes total sense, but the Pinterest algorithm doesn't seem to favor it as much for my niche.

So, I changed my strategy to creating more images without text, and I link them to my website's homepage. I also use an interactive question and a #"MyHomepage" dot com hashtag in the pin description.

My homepage is "trending" in Google Analytics, so Google is also taking notice, which will hopefully increase my website ranking in the Google SERPs. Pretty sneaky for a guitar player, right? Lol 😎

Keep an eye on it in your analytics, and let us know your findings.

Sneaky indeed haha!

Lol 😂

Are the additional clicks due to the fact that the pic is ai generated or simply because it is a more interesting pic with more detail in it?

could be that, you're right. Although this is just one comparison, I see it in general on my Pinterest account that AI pictures get a lot more attractions and outbound clicks, just like videos do. An Ai picture never fails on me, it is very clear in the stats.

And I don't even need to worry about adjusting their sizes for Pinterest, etc. Not putting time in it.

it could be simply that the AI images are so much more detailed that people respond to that more. In any case, if you find it works better then continue with it. thanks for your post. I am not using pinterest yet but I will keep this in mind for when I do
