It's International Women's Day
She is strong,
she is fierce,
she is brave,
she gives counsel when needed,
she is God in the mouths of children.
She is protector, nurturer, and provides love and tenderness.
She is the barer of many burdens, yet she remains strong.
Her touch can calm the most excruciating pain.
Her words are soothing and at times provide guidance when needed.
She is aware of how much she is needed.
She does not expect much in return, other than the love that she shares, even at a level where it can be felt. Yet she remains loyal, loving.
Some may not appreciate her presence and will cast her efforts to the wind.
Yet, she remains strong, brave and faithful to the end.
She brings forth children.
She is mother,
sister, daughter,
niece, cousin,
aunt and friend.
She is Woman.

In 1975 the women of Iceland had a day off. Here is a link to an article on that.

Just recently regulations were put in place to make organisations prove they were paying equally.
