Reflecting on the distance I have covered so far .

Hi guys,

I have now reached the last lesson of the Level 2, so it's time to write my second blog post - gosh I am such a good student completing all the assignments.

My Story

First, let me introduce myself a bit, I think I have been a bit shy on my first post and skipped that part.

I have been online for over a year now, and I will be honest with you - it's time to be vulnerable - I have never made a sale so far! Harsh truth but real.

I started in MLM - oh actually I did manage to sale to my mum and one of her friend there, I don't know if that counts really. It turned out that the MLM company did not have the insurance to trade the product - it was food supplement so imagine the consequences - and asked us to pay for our own insurance: total cost around £600 for the year! No way! I left the Company.

I went on and researched about other MLM companies - bear in mind at that time I did not know better - that is when I found out about affiliate marketing. I went down this new rabbit hole: hours watching YouTube videos, researching on Googles. That's how I came across WA. It was actually one of the first program I looked at. But then I went on and looked for other things - the shiny object syndrome: have you heard about it?. I tried everything and anything: Facebook ads, Facebook organic growth... I even had a Tik Tok channel at one point! Nothing worked out, but also I have to put my hands up there, I did not push myself and worked hard enough to make it happen. The reason was simple: I just hated it, all of it.

This is when I decided to make a U-turn and go back to what I saw first but ignored at the time: blogging. I started my own blog and created content on my hobby: hiking. I started recording all the hikes I did in 2020, one by one, and adding all the pictures to the content, I loved every single minute of it. That is when I knew I found the platform for me. Exit starting and stopping channels and accounts here and there. All I needed to do from now on was to focus on blogging, learn and master it. The first step I took was to join WA.

My progress so far

I love the program and the community here. I am impressed how quickly you get a response to your questions.

In regard to my progress, I smashed Level 1 in a couple of days as I already had a blog, so I had already done a lot of the work.

The serious things started at Level 2 and the big scary word for me there was not CONTENT -which I have no problem with as long I am writing about my time hiking - but KEYWORDS! I have never paid attention to keywords or how they work, what they do, how to find them, how to find the right one to rank: I just log on to my Wordpress back office and start writing.

My niche

am hiker. I started hiking 2 years ago. Long story short we actually planed a hike for a friend of us who was living the UK. She actually asked for it rather than doing a usual leaving do and get drunk at the local pub. Guess what? She went and got drunk at the local pub the night before and did not come on the hike!

Anyway, that's how I got to hiking. I fell in love with it that day and since I have never looked back and keep hiking and discovering new routes. I even signed up for a 42km hike marathon on 29th May. I am starting my training this weekend. SO EXCITED!

My Success so far

After learning about keywords in Level 2, I played around with Jaxxy. I built my list of low competition keywords as shown on the training and had to write for the first time an article which was not a description of a trail but an actual keyword reach post: tough! It took me a couple of days and I finally published a post called: Circular Walks Near London: 7 Beautiful Countryside Hikes. I don't know if it ever will rank, but I did it!

Goals at 3 months

want to take it to the next level and learn how I can make money with my hiking blog. I believe that's the Level 3 course, so cannot wait to get started. Oh, and also, I want to deeper my knowledge on keywords and SEO.

Goal at 6 months

would like to make my first sale ever online (on second thought selling to my mum really does not count)

So folks, that's it for me. So please leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts.

PS: Please note English is not my first language, so please be nice. I normally ask one of my native English speaker friend to proofread my articles before posting them, but not on this one.

Hey, Lily for a non-native English speaker that was pretty good I think. So no need to worry. Very happy to see the lovely progress that you found here in WA after all the rabbit holes visited. Being able to deepen your passion for hiking and not having any issues with writing is going to take you far. So here's looking forward to you telling us more success stories.
