Using Your Body To Earn An Income Doesn't Always Mean You're An Athlete
For those who are familiar working menial jobs you’ll know exactly what I mean by “using your body to earn an income doesn’t always mean you’re an athlete”.
Infact, for unskilled workers it can be quite the opposite. For many factory workers, the work you perform day in and day out can take its toll on your body. You can feel older than what you really are, and getting up in the morning can be a real ‘task’.
I can recall the worst my body has felt whilst working. I worked nightshift, I was overweight, and I worked in a cold and wet environment. The position I held at the time was as an Industrial Cleaning Supervisor at a food manufacturing plant, and the hours I worked were from 6pm to 2am. The days I worked were not set, we were rostered from week to week, so we couldn’t make any long-term plans because we had no idea what days we were working in the weeks ahead.
We, my staff and I were required to hose all the machinery with cold water, scrub the machinery and equipment, and then re-hose everything to remove any detergent residue. We were required to get in and under things, bend over and climb steps with heavy hoses, and it was imperative that we keep the drains clean, which believe me, is next to impossible.
We found ourselves on our knees more than we liked and although we wore all the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) we would inevitably, still end up wet to some degree. It wasn’t pleasant, but it was a job.
For anyone who has worked night shift, you will know what this can do to your body and mind. It is recommended that we sleep from seven to eight hours per night, but the reality is, this isn’t enough for a nightshift worker; orbeit, the quality of sleep you receive isn’t quite adequate. As a night shift worker you are often ostracized from normality. You are home when everyone else is working, and when everyone else is home you are working, it’s a horrible continual cycyle; and, unfortunately, often the cycle is a necessity for many families to meet their financial needs.
For me, it was often at these times when I really hated my job that I would start looking for another and would look at working-from-home as well. Unfortunately, when I looked at working-from-home I was looking at ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes and another dead-end job. Naturally, the get-rich-quick schemes would ultimately fail because I was jumping from one bad scam to another bad scam; and, just like the bad scams, I was going from one bad job to another bad job.
It wasn’t until I made a firm change in my chain of thought (you will notice I’ll mention ‘chain of thought’ in a lot of my posts) that everything changed for me. Learning to change my thought process has become a valuable tool for me. Not only in the way I think, but in the way I am perceived by others. Learning to look at situations from a different point of view has allowed me to begin this website, and has opened up potentially several different streams of income for me.
Where once I only relied on “using my body to earn an income” as an ‘unskilled worker’, I am now capable of earning more from using my mind to it’ strength. Learning to train my mind to think differently did take persuasion, and effort on my part, but what I found was, it wasn’t a hard exercise, but instead something small, repeated daily.
The something small repeated daily, what is it?
It’s simple really, I started listening to educational audio. You see, I walk to work, it takes me 40 minutes from the moment I step outside my front door to arriving at my full-time job. I have gone from listening to music and have replaced it with educational audio. You may not walk to your job, you may instead drive, instead of listening to the radio or your iPod, how about you replace that time with an educational audio. I can tell you, it is without a doubt one of the best changes I have made to my daily routine.
If there is anything that I would highly recommend you adopt into your life, it would be to begin listening to educational audio. Don’t just listen to them once, I tend to listen to one audio for a whole week, sometimes two. What completely slipped my attention yesterday can for some reason make an impression on me today, and the thoughts I have conjure in my head from the audio often sets me in good stead of my day ahead; or maybe that’s the walking, I’m not sure, but both have been great additives to my life. I am not a fan of reading, but I do like stories, so I started listening to audio books which lead me onto educational audios. I became so engrossed and motivated by the educational audios that I eventually came full-circle; I just had to have the books as well. Now I have a teeny-tiny library that I’m very proud of, so go figure on that one.
If you would like to know more about the audios that I like to listen to than by all means drop a comment below and I’ll be only happy to share with you. Alternatively, I’d love to know your experiences with educational audios too.
All the best in your endeavours!

Inspiring! I am a reader. I write on pieces of paper things that stand out to me. I will carry those thoughts with me, and pull them out and reread them in the small moments of the day. Basicly the same principle of your audios. Your path to success started the day you started listening to those educational audios. Your library reminds me of one I use to have. A magazine one column two inch article changed the course of my life.
Since I have started reading consistantly I realised that I was missing out on so much, but nevermind I know better now. Thanks for taking the time to read my post Rex :)
Another great post, I've worked in factories before I totally agree with what you are saying.
