My name is Lillian, and I am the creator of #TheUnskilledWorker.

I have lived the majority of my working life doing menial labour intensive jobs, hence the label I give myself as #TheUnskilledWorker.

There was a time where I didn't want anyone to know what I was; but then I realised, as an 'unskilled worker' at the very least I was paying my own way through life and making do with what little I had. When I became grateful for that, I started to see what potential I could grow, nurture and share from the perspective of an unskilled worker.

Being an unskilled worker does have it's draw backs - the lack of income, often being the first to lose your job due to lack of skills, being hired first as a casual and then hopefully you make it into a permanent position in a warehouse or factory. You use your body to get the work done, often you're standing for long periods, working long hours and overtime to earn a little extra each week. The work is repititive, and often you will experience working nights or rotating shifts, having to work unhealthy hours to meet the production demands. Forget being on a salary, you are paid by the hour. So, if you miss work, don't expect to get paid for that unless you've earned sick leave or annual leave.

Sounds depressing right? It can be, believe me it can.

Working in a factory or warehouse setting can bring you down, especially if you're constantly met with groans and moans from your fellow workmates. It can be difficult to maintain a feeling of gratitude in such an environment.

Since developing into #TheUnskilledWorker, I have turned all those groans and moans into daily motivation. Where I once joined in on the moaning about management, conditions, workload, production, staff cut-backs, redundancies, machinary and everything else; I am now choosing to remember those conversations and use them as my motivation to get up and out of those jobs.

Away from my endeavours as #TheUnskilledWorker, I am a casual pick/packer in Western Australia. Unfortunately, we are currently facing the dilemma of being reliant on the mining industry, and with the fall in price of iron-ore our jobs are hanging by a thread. As a casual worker, I am certainly going to be one of the first to lose my job; being so close to Christmas it couldn't have come at such a worse time. On the flip side, with the constant changes happening daily, situations like this will surely provide the motivation I need to become a beacon for other unskilled workers who are also facing the same difficulties.

I look forward to getting to know your stories and helping where I can. Take the time to message me and say "hello".

LillzMorgan's Goals 3
Money Goals
I would be happy earning enough money to replace my fulltime job. Therefore, I would be happy earning $900AUD per week working from home. This is a 12 month short-term goal to work earnestly toward achieving. My intention is not to quit my fulltime job, but instead get to a point where I no longer need it.

I would be ecstatic if I were earning enough to cover both my own and my partners fulltime incomes combined per week. This is a mid-term goal of 24 months.

At present I have scheduled three hours per day to work on my part-time business from home from Monday to Friday, and then a full day each Sunday.

Broken down, this is going to be more than achievable for you (and then some). The internet has over 2 billion people actively search for and buying things online. All you need to do is connect with a few of these people each day to meet your initial goal!

I know with some hard work and persistence you will achieve all of your goals and then be building brand new ones. I am here to help if you ever need anything and you have an entire community rooting for your success here at WA Lillian! :)

Thank you Kyle, I appreciate the comment. Though I have only just discovered WA, the videos and training have helped to clarify and demistify a lot for me already; and I am only onto lesson 4 of the initial training. It leaves a lot of food for thought after each session.
Thanks again!

I appreciate the time you took to leave a comment Bill. I have been working through a series of Brian Tracy exercises, and setting goals has become a very real chain of thought for me in the last two weeks. Now having discovered WA I look forward to more training and exercises.
Thanks again Bill :)
