Need a Jump-Start to get back on track!

Ok so it's now January and I feel like I've come to a stand-still...more like I've been at a stand-still for the past two months. I muddled my way through my first website and finally when I felt confident enough with that one to start the Affiliate Bootcamp and my second website, my nephew, who designs websites for a living gave me a looooong list of things that are WRONG with my first website. So having to put the Bootcamp Training and my Affiliate website on the "back burner" for a while, I am now trying to correct all the "wrongs" with my first website. I have no clue how to do some of them and will need major help. I have to admit I am feeling overwhelmed.

I am having a really hard time with the SEO. I have read the training, watched the videos, used Jaaxy, and I still don't really understand the keywords, tags, and all of that. Especially if I am using them correctly and where they should and shouldn't be. I am just NOT grasping it all.

I really, really need to make something happen. I did recently have a change of heart as far as where I would like my first website to go. That one will soon be changing directions a bit and I think it will be for the good. I just wish every step wasn't so difficult and time consuming for me where it comes so easily for others.

Good thing I am not one to give up easily. I told my husband I've put this many months, weeks, days, and hours of my time into this and I'm not giving up yet! I just need something encouraging to happen!

More power to you. Wishing success you this year. Good luck.

Thank you so much! My very best wishes to you as well! Susan

Stick with it and keep going . Set aside a certain time of day when you will get no distractions maybe 2 hrs and just stick to your goals and if you do that it will get easier. It's just like starting a workout program the more that you stick to it the more results you will get. It's never easy but if you put in the time it will pay off big time!

Great suggestion and one I will really make an effort to start putting into action! Thank you so much and best wishes to you! Susan

Hi Susan
Just sticking it out and not giving in, is already courageous and determined of you.

Remember, the best way we learn is through mistakes. The more mistakes you make , the more you are learning.

I know you are on the right path, keep going. You, me and the rest of the guys here will cross the finish line.

It will take us time, but we WILL cross it.....

Thank you so much for the encouragement! It means a lot and it helps to boost my confidence and motivation. Best wishes to you for a happy and successful 2016! Susan

Hi Susan, you are not alone, some of us take a little bit longer to get things sorted. We all get there in the the end. Your nephew was trying to be helpful, which is very cool. However he may of mist the positives, one being aunty Susan has just built two websites all by her little old self. The WA gig is a process which takes a little bit of time. I am sure you will achieve your goals and aspirations.
Alexander

Hello Alexander, I think you are so right on all accounts. I need to relax and take a step back from his "review" and get back to how I was feeling about my achievements before I got "blind-sided". There is no doubt in my mind he is trying to be helpful not hurtful, and doesn't realize everything I had to put into what I did---where it comes so easy to him. Thanks to the awesome WA community, I am feeling so much better and am going back to work on this even more motivated than before! Thank you again and Happy New Year to you! Susan

Best wishes for 2016 Susan,
You made a good decision to hang in and continue to build and improve your website. Remember Rome and Paris weren't build in one day either.
Every day of your life a new building block brings you to a fine house to live in.

Thank you for your kind (and true) words, Yonah! I appreciate your encouragement. Happy New Year to you as well! Susan

Hi and I will say SNAP as I am just the same my site has been on Google just over two months and I still just cannot grasp the key word stuff using four I'd give different and they all tell a different story
But now I have just started to play with the SEO plugging Yoast and
This has now snowman me that 80% of my site is crap so I am now able to start to redo every page and make it SEO friendly but Yoast
Asks you to put your keyword in and does everything else and it is real so good - I have now got seven pages that have come from 2/10
To 8/10

Hi Paul, Thank you so much for the advice! I will have to check that out. Have a great day! Susan

I will keep you informed ok

Firstly, a very Happy New Year to you Susan and secondly, I'm so glad you stuck with us when the easiest thing would have been to quit several months ago.
You're so right when you say that you've put too much time and effort into it to quit now....I couldn't agree more.
Apropos correcting your first site, pick out the things you feel you need to correct and ask the question in your q box at the top to see if it's been asked and answered before.
If not, make a question of your own and get the community involved. If you still can't get the answer you need, feel free to drop me a pm and I'll see what I can do for you. I'm no expert but between us I'm sure we can get you going again.
By the way, great new bio photo!!
Take care Susan
Mark

Hi there, Mark! Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were joyful! Thank you so much for your encouragement and reassurance. It's the "stubbornness" in me that will not allow me to just quit. So being stubborn does have its benefits! :-) I am now working on my first site and seeing what I can do to get that back in order, and I will follow your advice and ask as often as I have to, to get the answers to the things I don't know. Thank you again for your offer of support. I will probably be contacting you! Thanks also for your compliment on my bio photo--it's much appreciated. Will be in touch--have a great week-end! Susan

Will look forward to hearing from you then Susan, in the meantime, good luck with your efforts.
Mark

I have found that many of those who "design web pages for a living" have a mind set that the only "right" way to do a website is "Their" way.
When they give you a list of what is wrong with your site it is only another instance of negative thinking, no different than the "when are you going to get a real job" or "that will never work".

Forge ahead! keep on with the training and try to work on it every day. Success will come with time if you don't give up.

Another resource that may be helpful is the Blog Marketing Academy by David Risley. He approaches the topic more from the business building side and does a great job of not only teaching the aspects of creating a website, but also how to build a sustainable and profitable business out of it.

Hope this is helpful.

Joe

THANK YOU, Joe! I so appreciate all the support I am receiving along with all the encouragement to move forward. It does make sense what you are saying about professionals. He's my nephew and I love him dearly, but it's true that it doesn't mean he knows what's best for me. I will definitely defend what I want when it comes to that. It just really threw me way off when he handed me 3 pages of things that are wrong with my site that need to be corrected. I knew my site was far from perfect or professional---I just didn't realize it was that bad. Anyway, ypu have made me feel a hundred times better and more encouraged. Yes, you were very helpful---thanks again! Susan P.S. I will check out that Blog Marketing Academy as well. It sounds like something I may have noticed somewhere on the net before.

Good luck moving forward :)

Thank you, Jude! Much appreciated!

One of these days it will all click, just like a light bulb turning on! I am not quite sure I am using tags and all the way it should be done, but I know that it will come easier as we continue to go through the training.
Just take it one day at a time and you will see improvement.
Sheila

Thank you very much for the encouragement, Sheila! You are right, it usually does just "click" and I hope it will soon. :-) Thank you again for taking the time to comment and show your support.. I so appreciate it! Susan
